Chiefs Finalize Major commitment to Matt Cassel

I can't stand this.:shake:

I've been a Chiefs fan since Lenny was pitching out to Nolan "the gnat" Smith.

I've got an autographed picture of Ed Podolak.

For YEARS I've felt like KC was on the verge and only needed a decent QB to make the leap to dynasty. They had the O-Line, They had The D, and then when Johnson emerged, they had the stud RB.

Now....after grasping at re-treads (starting with Montana) they finally make a serious commitment to a franchise QB and look who they choose?

A guy who's only claim to fame is that he sat behind the wheel of an offensive juggernaut. A guy who could have been replaced by Norm Snead and STILL made the play-offs with ease.

Even if Cassels turns out to be the real deal they waited until the O-Line was depleted, the defense was lackluster and their star RB started beating women.

<sigh>

:oaksucks:

Go Chiefs!!!

Cassel is overrated. This is going to be (in my humble opinion) a regrettable decision by the Chiefs. Way too much money and draft stock for a guy who couldn't get the ball to Randy Moss in the Patriots offense.

He didn't have the arm strength to get it to him down the field consistently.

I do think the Chiefs passing game will stress the short game with him.

I do agree with Bird though, I don't think he ends up being worth this contract.

Defend your position.

Im not going to target Cassel in the 1st round or anything, but I wont pass on him.

What are your expectations?

Honestly, I'm not sure what to expect.

1 thing I'm not going to do though is crucify or glorify him before I see him on the field

Beats Brodie Croyle.

Oh man, were they obsessed over this guy for awhile. Kept re-anointing him a starter despite proof to the contrary right on the field. Croyle was have been on heck of a practice guy.

Cassel the next great QB, not sure. But this is a big step up from the Brodie Croyle era.
