Carson Palmer in 2010

One of the tougher guys to rank (for me anyway) going into 2010. The few games I saw him, he was pretty wild. I assume the elbow was bothering him, but he also lost his security blanket (TJ) and Coles didn't step into the role as planned. They have upgraded the #2 spot with Bryant, added Matt Jones who could be an excellent #3 or 4 if he maintains his focus, and added the best rookie TE in the draft. Seems like everything lines up for a good bounce back year numbers wise for Palmer.

Or is the defense/running game philosophy that they had last year going to limit Palmers numbers? Thoughts from Outlaws who know the Bengals well would be appreciated.
 
I look for good things from Carson this season but I haven't been a Bengal fan for a long time. I did own Palmer for a couple of seasons and he led me to one championship.
 
Man, not sure what I think here. Palmer is physically healthy.....but he was last year as well. His mechanics have changed since 05' and IMO, the reason for the decrease in accuracy. I feel it is mental, due to over compensating for the past injuries. Can he get past it? I would think so, but he hasn't yet.

The weapons are there, the protection should improve with another year with the young line, and Palmer is another year removed from his past injuries. The offensive philosophy they switched to last year will for the most part remain I believe. They are going to run the ball down your throats and pick their spots in the short passing game. This is not the offense that allowed Palmer to explode fantasy wise in 2005. However, he can still be effective in this type of offense if he can get rid of the happy feet and make the mechanical changes that need to be made.

In the end, I am cautiously optimistic that he can be a solid top 10 fantasy QB, but I won't bet the farm on it either. He is a boarderline starter/great back-up guy until he proves otherwise in fantasy.
 
I'm with ya, Miller. High end QB2 who will be a better real-life QB than a fantasy one due to a combination of what you noted, plus the subtle shift away from a predominantly pass-happy offense.

The official team website for the Bengals reports that QB Carson Palmer, who played the last 13 games with a torn ligament in his left, non-throwing thumb, has recovered nicely from post-season surgery. He says it is 100 percent, and playing with two hands again should make the play-action game smoother.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, Carson Palmer "looks as sharp as ever" this offseason.

Clayton is staunchly in the camp of those who believe Palmer's late-season woes can be laid squarely at the feet of his supporting cast. In other words, he's giving Palmer a pass for his loss of accuracy and arm strength. It sounds like months of rest did him well in both departments, but we're reserving judgment until the pads go on in camp.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Jordan Shipley saw most of the No. 3 wide receiver reps during the team's minicamp, reports Joe Reedy, of The Cincinnati Enquirer.

While there are a lot of WRs looking for balls in this O, I have read a lot of good things about this kid.
 
True and it appears that Antonio Bryant is still not healthy though the team claims not to be concerned about him yet. Shipley could be a nice surprise for team owners this season.
 
Was working on the rankings for the site today and this indeed was a tough rank for me. As a shock to no one, I usually rank Palmer higher than most. This year though, I think I may be on the low end right now. He will likely rise if I see some positive signs in TC, but he remains a #2 fantasy QB for me with good upside. He will come out at #15 this season for me.
