Fantasy D's.....Who's #1??

So who's the top fantasy D this season? The top 5 last year were (where their ADP was going into the year):
Philly (7)
GB (11)
SF (NR)
NYJ (8)
NO (NR)

Not exactly how many thought it would go last year. D's seem to be such a crap shoot. Currently this year the top 5 in ADP is:
NYJ
Minny
SF
GB
Pitt

So who ya like? Who's going to surprise this year? Who's not worth the pick?
 
I will never be the first to draft a defense. Stupid to waste a valuable pick to reach for a defense that more then likely will not end up in the top 10 pick. I'll wait until the last round and draft the Lions DST they're just as likely to wind up in the top 10 as anyone else.
 
Philly. Usually get a lot of sacks and they added maybe the best pass rusher in the draft........

Reaching for a D? I guess that depends on where the run starts. Drafting a top D in the 11-12 round really isn't a reach. They score points too and it's not a crap shoot on opportunity week to week like a kicker. Someone will reach early (7-8) for the Jets this year. I definitely won't be that guy, but to say to wait until the last couple rounds isn't a great strategy IMO..........

Sure, you can play the waiver wire, but there's usually a reason that defenses are on the waiver wire. I prefer a good one, and ideally two good ones so I don't have to take the leftovers..........
 
never take a defense early. I love it when someone drafts a Def just to fill in there starting roster. I just say good pick. LOL. I rather pick up my back up back up RB or WR then get a Def. But I think the Jets def is the best pick.
 
I feel that the Steelers are ranked too high at 5 this off season. For a month or so I expect them to be playing behind the 8 ball with Leftwich at QB. Then there's always the team no one drafted that turns into a top flight defense such as the Saints last year. Some say that you should draft a defense after 7 or 8 have been taken. If one of my top ranked defenses is on the board with 5 picks to go I'll grab them. Otherwise I'm likely waiting until I only have 3 picks remaining.

I was involved in a trade in my dynasty money league and was offered his Def. as part of the deal, which made me :biglaugh: to myself and although the trade went thru i had to counter his offer omitting the def.

On my dynasty team i have the Colts and Chiefs which are ranked #22 & #23 respectively. defenses dont win fantasy football games

Defenses are tough to figure out. I always like to lean towards the more aggressive Ds as a rule. A good D doesn't always make a good Fantasy D. Take the Dallas D,.... please...., in recent years several times they have been the #1 Defense at Mid season and yet for fantasy purposes they range in the 12-15 th Category. The stop your ass after a couple of series grinding the other team down in a 3 and out and yet don't excite your point total much.
