Trade proposal...

Was offered a trade of Matt Stafford for Fred Jackson. Scoring is 6 pts for pass, rushing and receiving TDs. 1 pt for every 20 yds passing and 1 pt for every 10 yrd rushing and receiving. We start 2 RBs, 2 WRS and 1 flex RB/WR.

I currently have Matt Ryan , Josh Freeman, and Sam Bradford as my QBs. The rest of my roster goes like this:

Ray Rice
Darren McFadden
Fred Jackson
Mark Ingram
Jason Starks
Michael Bush

Mike Wallace
Brandon Marshall
Robert Meachem
Malcolm Floyd

If I did the trade I would be left with having to play Ingram, Starks or Meachem in my flex each week. Is it worth it for the upgrade at QB?

I wouldn't do it. Not even close. Bills offense is clicking very well right now and Jackson is healthy and running well. Your team is good enough to make up for the slight weakness at QB. Stafford would only be a small improvement at QB anyway

I disagree with the above posts for the following reasons:

Post 1: Stafford would be a MAJOR improvement @ QB.

Post 2: What Derringer says is true however having Stafford allows you to make a Ryan for WR deal.

Post 3: Jack's statement is correct however Stafford has never finished an NFL season healthy and Jackson is rock solid.

My take is that you sit tight. Ryan will come around. I don't think he will match Staffords week to week numbers but he's certainly no slouch and he will be standing upright in Dec. Jackson is your only real insurance against an almost certain McFadden injury.

I think you would see an immediate improvement in your scoring if you took the deal but playing flex roulette with Ingram, Meachem and Starks would be a headache.

Long term I think you will fare better with Ryan and Jackson.

No Deal.

He has Michael Bush if McFadden goes down. Thats his insurance! What it comes down to is would you rather have Stafford and Ingram at Flex weekly or Ryan and F. Jackson at Flex weekly. Yea Stafford has injury issues but I believe he is worth the risk! BIG TIME!

yea i am just worried about his(stafford) health. his consistency is much better this year because the team as a whole is much better.
To me this trade would have a huge decline in points at flex with his current options but would be gaining at QB.
His options at flex if he did that trade would be major inconsistency. Grant has been played well and got the bulk of the work so I don't see starks as being a decent flex option anytime soon, and colston coming back soon and moore in the picture makes meachem a weak play to rely on. With Ingram it is still too early to tell.
Ryan will have his good games not as well as stafford has had but i really like cc's advice( about sitting tight).
You have a good team. i would sit tight and keep my eye out for a better wr to help out at flex during bye weeks. i believe out of your qb's you will have decent matchups for atleast one of them to have good weeks

No way I start Ingram right now...maybe later. but not now.

...and in my opinion, Bush is not the guy to handcuff McFadden. Taiwan Jones is the 1 for 1 replacement for Faddy.

Sitting tight is not a bad idea, especially if Stafford gets hurt. I for one like to take gambles, most years it pays off but sometimes I screw myself. Detroit and Dallas game can be a shootout and with your scoring system Stafford can be one of the top scorers in your league if not the top scorer. Stafford/Ingram is more of a small risk/ big reward versus playing it safe with Ryan/Jackson. Sitting tight could pan out but you may not get this offer again.

CCtek, I do not know much about T. Jones but why would he be the better handcuff? Isnt Bush a proven backup? Just wonderfing what you know about T. Jones.

Bush was the handcuff LAST year.

Bush and Faddy are completely different runners. They compliment one another. Jones is explosive (like Faddy).

Bush will certainly see more action when Faddy goes down but it will be Jones that is given the highlight plays.

I'm basing this solely on pre-season performance so don't go crazy with it, but I carry Jones as my Faddy back up.

I would not take this deal.....Stafford being a top 3 QB over the last 3 weeks does not make him a top 3 QB overall. As many have pointed out, his injury history makes him a big risk. Now if he stays healthy could he keep it up? yeah, but your taking a pretty big gamble and in Jackson you have one of the more underrated fantasy players in the league. If you are going to take 3 games and call Stafford a top 3 QB b/c that is where his scoring has him currently, then the same logic makes Jackson a top 5 RB b/c that is what he has done so far.....now I'm not going to say he keeps that up, but I think it is very reasonable to expect a top 10 year from Jackson this year. Having 3 top 10 RB's and playing match-up at QB is much better than making a deal for a dynamic, yet injury prone QB.

I'd stay put. Stafford is great, but Fast Freddy has been doing well. And you already have 3 serviceable QBs that you can play by match-ups.

Thanks for the input. I never did the trade. I have just been offered another deal. Larry Fitzgerald and Steven Jackson for Ray Rice. What do you think I should do?

I would do that deal!!! Steven Jackson is getting heathier and Larry Fitzgeral is Larry Fitzgerald. Yeah R. Rice can light it up but R. Williams is getting some carries. Although Ray Rice will outscore Jackson, Jackson is going to be consistent. The way I see is a top WR1 and top RB2 for a top RB1.
