  • Julio Jones said he "doesn't know" if he'll play against the Vikings in Week 1.
In the words of longtime Falcons beat writer D. Orlando Ledbetter, it was a bizarre scene. Ledbetter said Jones was "battling through something physical or emotional." Jones said he didn't know if he would play against the Vikings before then saying he "plans" to give it a go. He hinted at an injury issue beyond his contract situation. In other words, weird. Very, very weird. It's hard to believe Jones won't be out there against the Vikings, but there is clearly something going on here that the public is not privy to. Jones' situation will be updated no later than Friday afternoon.

Apparently their intention is to find a way to void the guaranteed money in his contract so they can release him.

Apparently he told Mike Mayock the general manager that he was going to punch him in the face
Per NFL.com since he is a 4 year vet IF he is off active roster by week 1 they can void his deal. Net cut and not pay him 1 dollar, what is being checked is if he violated conduct detrimental so they can get his bonus back as well

So...lets get caught up here a bit....

First - Mike Mayok GM for Oakland and A. Brown have a bit of a spat, Brown threatens to punch him in the face, and then punts a ball and says fine me for that. Then we find out that team is talking suspending A.Brown. Just for conduct though....No. Due to his years in league and contract as written, if he is NOT on active squad week 1, then the team can void his contract release him, and not pay him another dollar. They can also go after his signing bonus with conduct detrimental to the team. Lose Lose IMO. I also think there is a split in Oak. I think GM wants him gone and is tired of the crap show, while HC wants him on the team and thinks once he plays he will be fine. Time will tell.

Second - for months now, we have gotten reports that Julio Jones was getting an extension, and the deal was very close. Then just yesterday or day before ATL started making contract moves to free up more space in cap. Now, we have Julio saying he doesn't know if he will play as contract is still not done - don't disagree here by the by, since he already has foot issue he is still coming back from.

Then - we get a perfect view of what happens when teams don't play any starters in preseason. Defense are wildly ahead of offenses. I think this might just be a really low scoring week in fantasy folks.

Other news:
WAS - OT Trent Williams is in Washington, but still no talk of him showing up or playing
GB - Matt LaFluer challenged a non-PI call, and lost(which he should have by the way) and he was disappointed with himself for doing it....
OAK - oh...now its getting deep - Derek Carr went on NLF network last night and said he and team captains met with Gruden to tell him they will support his and managements decisions on what they do with A.Brown. Think team in general has had enough?
DAL - Zeke is signed, and Dak MUST get signed if you believe Jerry. But in an interview Amari Cooper says he has no idea of if or when deal will get done as they have had almost no negotiations. Yes folks the pecking order on who to sign is set.....
SEA - fun fact - Team let Qb Russell Wilson call the Off. plays in the final preseason game - getting his future OC on?
CHI - one good piece of news in last nights game...K was 1 for 1 on Fgs!

More on A. Brown situation thanks to PFT and them getting an actual copy of his contract:
PFT has obtained an analyzed a full copy of the contract. The $1 million signing bonus contained in the deal actually took the form of a pair of guaranteed $500,000 workout bonuses for 2019 and 2020. The 2019 payment nevertheless hinged upon Brown participating in at least 85 percent of the 2019 offseaon program.

Per a league source, NFLPA records reveal that he did not earn the $500,000, which means that he failed to participate in at least 85 percent of the offseason program. Thus, to date, Brown has gotten no payment from the Raiders under the contract.

And he may ultimately get none. Brown’s remaining guarantees of $29.625 million (2019 salary, 2020 workout bonus, 2020 salary) can be wiped out if he’s suspended. Actually, the language of the contract allows the guarantees to be voided even without a suspension; the behavior for which he was fined $53,950 already puts him in default.

Now, if they do release him, you just KNOW someone is going to go get him...so he will get something. But to date he has NOT been paid one dollar by Oakland.

OMG! This guy needs to be locked up for stupidity...

  • Antonio Brown requested his release from the Raiders in his most-recent Instagram post.
Brown's post started with the quote, "You are gonna piss a lot of people off when you start doing what's best for you." He then made a few other notes about not wishing to conform to the system before eventually requesting his release from the Raiders. The post comes on the heels of a cryptic YouTube video that included a seemingly private phone conversation between Brown and coach Jon Gruden. The Raiders said Friday that the plan was for AB to suit up Monday night against the Broncos, but this clearly remains a volatile situation.

  • ESPN's Adam Schefter has reported that by fining Antonio Brown $215,073.53 Friday night for conduct detrimental to the team, the Raiders voided the $29.1 million worth of guaranteed money in his deal.
Schefter added in a followup tweet that, "The Raiders sent Brown a letter that he no longer will be entitled to termination pay if they release him." Brown requested his release from the Raiders on Instagram Saturday morning. The chances of AB ever suiting up in silver and black seem as dim as ever at this point. Tyrell Williams would be the biggest beneficiary of Brown's outright release, although his status as a downfield field-stretcher doesn't exactly mesh with Derek Carr's skill set.

  • ESPN's Jeff Darlington reported that Antonio Brown isn't expected to suit up for the Raiders' Monday night matchup against the Broncos.
Darlington noted that he received an email from AB. The receiver mentioned the Raiders "took away my guarantees" and added there's "no way I play after they took that and made my contract week to week." AB's own declaration of requesting a release, the Raiders decision to fine Brown and take away his guaranteed money, along with Darlington's own report all obviously indicate that it'd be shocking if Brown suits up Monday night against the Broncos.
