Rookie Ben Tate is sitting out Texans OTAs with a hamstring injury. Missed the first day and will be reevaluated as the OTA continues.

Thats not a good way to start as this injury could be re-aggravated throughout the season, im sure he will be a go for training camp

Updating an earlier post.
rotoworld,

Rookie Ben Tate (hamstring) is not expected to resume practicing at Texans OTAs until next week.

The injury could be a moot point by June, but it's a concern at the moment. "(Tate) is way behind everybody right now," noted coach Gary Kubiak, "but we've gotta be smart and get him well before he competes." Steve Slaton and Arian Foster figure to be handling the majority of first-team practice reps.

rotoworld,

Arian Foster is running as the Texans' first-team tailback at OTAs.

Last year's late-season hero is getting the reps with Ben Tate (hamstring) injured and Steve Slaton (neck surgery) apparently heading up the second team. We certainly wouldn't rule out Foster beginning camp, and possibly the season, as the Texans' starting tailback. He's got the clear early lead.

(nfl.com)Texans rookie RB Ben Tate (hamstring) took part in individual running drills Monday during OTA workouts. Tate was bothered all last week with the hamstring injury, which kept him out of doing any kind of work.
Analysis: Continue to keep an eye on Tate for the rest of the offseason, and hopefully he will be 100 percent by the time training camp starts. Tate has the chance to be one of the top rookie rushers this year.

(nfl.com)Texans RB Ben Tate continued to practice on a limited basis Wednesday with a hamstring injury. This is the third day in a row Tate has been unable to work because of his hamstring problem, and coach Gary Kubiak said Tate is "way behind everybody right now."

(nfl.com)Texans coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday it's too early to tell if RB Ben Tate (hamstring) will participate in full team drills when OTAs resume next Tuesday. Tate, a second round pick, has only participated in individual workouts since OTAs began on May 17. He was out again Thursday.

I drafted B.Tate (1.08) regardless of his hammy problem to my dynasty team last week, he will be fine im hoping for the start of training camp and not become a long term problem as this type of injury can be :worried3:

Who went ahead of him?

(nfl.com) For the first time during OTAs, Texans RB Ben Tate participated in team drills. He had been bothered by a hamstring injury that left him limited to individual reps. Tate took snaps during a 7-on-7 drill while continuing to work out in individual position drills. Coach Gary Kubiak expects Tate to participate in full next Tuesday when practices resume.

Analysis: Let's hope that Tate's hamstring problems are in the rear-view mirror so he can focus on landing a sizable role in the Texans' offense. He's got plenty of potential to be the team's "running downs" back and work in tandem with Steve Slaton, who has better hands. Tate has the chance to be productive and is worth drafting as early as Round 4 or 5 in seasonal leagues. His value is about as high in keeper leagues, and he should be considered a first-round pick in rookie-only drafts.

Finally Ben makes a practice

rotoworld,
Texans RB Ben Tate (hamstring) participated in a full practice Tuesday for the first time this offseason.

In addition to this week's OTAs, the Texans also have a three-day minicamp in mid-June. With Arian Foster jumping out to an early in the running back derby, Tate may not have enough time to make up ground before training camp. Those two, along with Steve Slaton, will vie for the starting job in August.

rotoworld,
Coach Gary Kubiak came away impressed with Ben Tate in the rookie's first full practice since suffering a hamstring injury in mid-May.

"He's faster than everybody else, so obviously he's fresh," Kubiak said. "Obviously, he was paying attention and knew what he was doing. We were actually doing some tough stuff on him today as far as no scripting, just calling stuff and seeing how guys react and turning the noise on. It was good to see him out here and get going."
