wow, with that pick I know your going to expect to get get some alternative reactions.....I won't go into the OT vs QB, I think your points are very valid....but taking Oher over Smith and Monroe makes it look like you just threw a dart at a board.....Oher is at best the 3rd best OT prospect in this draft and is not a consideration for the top 5 let alone the top spot....

There's a reason for it, actually. Oher is very big for his size and at the same time athletic. Kevin smith, despite being 73 inches tall, is somewhat slight for his height and being a feature back is going to be hard for him unless he has big holes to run through. On the pass pro side, he only need hold a block long enough to Culpepper to get the ball to Johnson, which might take three seconds max.

Smith, love the pick, but should have been #1 IMO

Crabtree, torn on this one. I think he's the real deal, but I think this would be a luxery pick for KC while they have many other needs outside of WR. This would definatly make the offense better, but I don't think pick makes them much better on the large scale.

With Walt recovering from microfracture surgury at his age, and Spencer having his shoulder problems Seattle is left with Willis, Locklear and Williams at OT, Wahle, Sims and Wrotto at OG and Vallos at center. By far the biggest need on the team

If Smith and Monroe are gone I could see them taking a long look at Stafford, but I hope not. They also need a primary RB badly but it is too early for that unless they trade back. 1 of the main resons for trading off Peterson was salary at the LB position. Pretty well rights off any thought of Seattle going LB with the #4 pick. Housh, Branch, and Burleson with Carlson is a very good WR corps. Just need some blocking up front so Hass has a little more time to get them the ball

Well Cleveland just creamed their shorts by having Curry land in their laps! This is a dream situation for them and addresses what quite possibly is their #1 need in a dynamic difference maker at OLB. Curry fits that bill.

Cincinnati would be in a nice spot her with the ability to trade down to a team going bonkers over one of the players that is falling.....since that is not an option in this mock they stick with their plan. If J. Smith and Monrow are off the board, they go to the best player in a huge need, and that is BJ Raji. Paired with Peko up front they will have two dynamic tackles to anchor their front line. Back to the Oher conversation, he would have been a reach at 6 and even with this being a huge need I would have leaned towards Raji or Orakpo over Oher in this spot.

For Oakland WR is a big need but with Crab gone I can not justify any of the other options this high. Orakpo is a difference maker that can make a difference on this defense and come in and start from the start at LE.

I gotta agree, and this is why I didn't want to do this excersise again. No way Oher goes before Smith and Monroe. I personally feel Smith will go before Oher would. Although it IS detroit...

I also don't see KC taking a Wr, not with Curry and or Monroe there...just does not make sense. Wr isn't that big an issue in KC.

Detroit - Man this went from an A grade in the first mock to starting at a C. Michael Oher is considered to be a tackle that could fall to near #20, and imagine that, its a pick the Lions have! This is a horrible pick!!!! Jason Smith is a premiere OT and considered to be one of the safest OT picks in years. I know I recently watched NFL Live and some think that Smith is a better prospect than Jake Long last year and Joe Thomas the year before. WOW....I think my balls just hiccuped at this pick.

St. Louis - Well I guess another man's garbage is another man's treasure. You just got the best tackle in the draft and he could potentially make a seamless transition to make Rams fans forget all about Orlando Pace. GREAT pick here.

KC - Surprised you would pass on Curry who would be great alongside Derrick Johnson, but Crabtree is one of those pure receivers who you have to love, regardless of who gets him. He, Bowe, and Gonzalez should give Matt Cassel plenty of options.

Seattle - I know....HOW DARE I SUGGEST YOU TAKE BJ RAJI HERE....but I know that they do need a long term solution at OT, and Eugene Monroe is arguable as athletic as Jason Smith. Keeping Matt Hasselbeck off his arse will aid in letting him make some plays with new toy TJ Houshmandzadeh. Cant argue too much with this pick.

Cleveland- Aaron Curry...perfect pick...NEXT!

Cincinnatti - BJ Raji.....second perfect pick....NEXT!

Oakland - Now...this is a good pick. But do you think Al Davis will really pass on Maclin? DE is a need along with O line so I think you did good to grab the top DE on the board.

Jacksonville - see post

Green Bay - see post

Not sure what old Al will do, but for this exercise I am the GM and there is no way I take Maclin. I'll give my thoughts on him in a second but the Raiders need help along the lines if it ever going to matter who mans the skill positions. Rack is a difference maker along the defensive front and gives them a versatile and powerful playmaker at LE.

On the J'ville pick....well to be to the point, I hate it.....I know this team needs help at WR, but they just took a 2nd round talent in the top 10. They could get a WR that will out produce what Maclin does as a pro in the 2nd round. Haven't the Jags blown enough first rounders on WR's? They are turning into a poor man's Detroit in this area. Maclin was a product of the system out in Mizzou abusing mediocre defense from the Big 12. Not going to be that easy at the next level and I see a raw receiver who will struggle when his speed is not light years faster than the guys he is playing against. There are other need areas that the Jags could have addressed or even took the best value available....they did neither, they just repeated their first round WR bust trend of recent years.

For GB, no doubt that they need a dynamic pass rusher and Brown is definatly that. Only issue I have is can he be an every down DE in a 4-3? Seems to be more of a pass rush specialist in this scheme......I think he's more of a 3-4 OLB. But worth the shot as they need the pass rush threat. OK Pick overall.

I think there's realistically only 3 possible ways the #1 pick will pan out with Stafford, Curry, or Smith. MAYBE you could throw Sanchez or Monroe in the mix if Detroit (or another team that trades with them) judges them to be better than Stafford/Smith.

There is just no way Oher goes before Smith or Monroe, and if not for boneheaded moves, he wouldn't have gone before Andre Smith either.

The sad part is this pretty much takes away from at least the first half of the first round because of the trickle down effect of that selection. Players such as Curry falling to places they have no hope of making it to on draft day.

well those last two picks will continue that trickle down....sorry Sarge, your the man, but damn those are bad picks from my pov. Just not good value at all on either Davis or Mack.

Davis is a decent prospect, but there are much better players available and much bigger needs. Value of a mid 20'd pick at the ten spot...ouch.

Now on Mack I like the guy, he'll be a solid 10 year pro, maybe even an all pro....but taking an interior lineman at this point in the draft just does not seem like good value again. He's being look at as an end of round guy, to pay him #11 money seems like a misallocation of resources.

As far as Curry falling farther than he should.....he fell to 5, not that far. And while I don't think he will fall, him falling to 5 is not that big of a stretch......not the other domino falling is just unrealistic....but oh well, still fun to hear why people take who and what others feel about the picks.

No there is a pick I like, never going to happen, but damn would this make trading Cutler a lot easier! Stafford is the real deal and should be the face of the detroit franchise by the end of the month. Guy is smart and can make all the throws. Reminds me a little of Carson Palmer.

Curry falling to 5 may not seem on paper to be a long drop, but considering he's probably the overall top prospect in the draft, carries the least amount of risk amongst the elite prospects, and has the best chance to make an impact from week one, I don't think there's any way possible he makes it past KC at 3, or even Seattle at 4 given the departure of Julian Peterson.

I'm starting to think Crabtree is looking more and more like a good fit for Cleveland at 5 now that Stallworth is all but done and Edwards is all over the trade market.

My high opinion of Mack is well-documented in other threads but it's extremely doubtful he goes that high. Good player, wrong spot as Miller outlined.

As far as the Mack pick, that OL is ****ed. The middle of the Bills front is junk now with Dockery gone. I valued a guy who can help quickly more than a DE, which the Bills already have, or a USC LB not named Ray.
