AFC Championship Game Discussion Thread - Colts vs Jets

Most on here seem to be on the same page. For those that think the Jets have a chance, wake up. They do have a snowball's chance in hell, but that's about it. Indy has already proved they can slow down a one dimensional running team. If Sanchez decides to start passing, Freeney and Mathis will be up to their necks in Sanchez's a**hole. The bottom line is, the Jets defense MIGHT be good enough to slow the Colts down (keep them under 30), but the Jets offense is nowhere near good enough to match the Colts scoring even if the Jets D does slow them down. You can't shut out the Colts offense you can only hope to slow them down. Regardless the Jets would need north of 20 points to win and they just can't get there when all Indy has to focus on is the run. The Jets can't start out trying to run the whole time or by the 2nd quarter they'll be down by 2 TDs and will have to pass and we all know what that means. The only chance the Jets have is to let Sanchez come out and evenly mix up the run and the pass. The problem there is Sanchez will make a mistake. Manning handles all of the halftime adjustments for the offense. If this game is tied or if the Jets are losing at halftime, the Colts will just walk all over the Jets in the second half. As much as some of you would like to see the Colts lose, it just won't happen.
I was more worried about last week after resting our starters for 3 weeks. Baltimore didn't concern me, it was the 3 weeks off. We overcame that, now we're rolling. The Jets don't concern me at all.

Sounds eerily familiar.

While I don't see the Jets winning this game, I don't understand why everyone thinks Revis wouldn't own Wayne. When and if Wayne plays well, his big plays will only come when Revis is moved to cover someone else. Revis is THAT good.

Let Revis have R.Wayne,

Garcon, Collie, Clark and Addai will have to pick up the slack, no way the Jets can stop them all

The Jets wont win v.s. the Colts just by running the ball

Sanchez post season stats: 38-att 24-comp 282yrds 2-td's 1-int

These stats wont hold up v.s. the Colts, Sanchez will choke when forced to throw, Ryan knows the Jets are a one dimension team, run first then run again

Clark is the key, not Wayne folks.

If they can take Clark away, and put Revis on Wayne....I don't think Indy wins on Collie and Garcon. I also don't think Manning will have enough time to go through that many progressions.

He will have enough time. He goes through the progressions before the ball is even snapped.

Well that's not really the question, is it? Line Revis up on any one of the Colt's receivers and he wins. Ryan will move him around all game long so that Peyton will have to read the whole game (clearly not an issue for him). But wherever Revis is, don't expect much from the Colts. That's all I'm saying.

Wayne or Collie or Garcon aren't the issue.

to beat Manning, you have to take away Dallas Clark. If they can find someway to take Clark away, and allow Revis to take away Wayne or whomever.....they will shake up Manning.

Their whole passing game is timing. Take away his main looks....and bump him...and you can beat him. It is a very tall order...I admit...but it has...and can be done.

I don't understand this quote. The Chargers were better than the Colts against the run this year, yet they couldn't force the Jets to adapt to what you're describing. Are you just assuming that the Chargers' defensive coaching staff were a bunch of morons?

Just a side note:

January 12th 1969, the Jets stunned the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl 1.

It's the 40th anniversary of the greatest upset of all time.

Reckon the Jets have it in them again?

This is going to end up one of two games.

Either this will be a blow out, with Indy winning hugely.

Or this will be an absolutely ugly game with lots of mistakes and penalties which plays into the Jets hands.

Either way......this won't be a good game to watch.

If the JETS are actually able to pull this off it will be a monumental feat. In my opinion they have about a 30% chance of winning tomorrow. Although crazier things have been done with a solid defense and a good running game.
