Here's a guy who could effect a lot of drafts this year and whose value is up in the air depending on who you talk to.

Thoughts? I think he'll be the bell cow and turn in a great year myself.
 
According to the Jets, they expect him to have 300 carries. If that ends up being the case, then 1400 and 10 plus TDs would be realistic. Top 7-8 back in standard scoring. I would be nervous taking him in the first two rounds in a redraft after last year, but he doubt he'll slip into the 3rd with all the hype that will come when the lock out eventually ends.

Last year was a big disappointment for Greene owners, so they should be rewarded this year. It will be interesting to see where he goes in redrafts.
 
I think he has the skill set to be successful as the primary back this year. Depends really on how much they throw to him too. He showed that he can stay healthy last year in the limited work he did get. I'm very nervous as a Greene owner in a Dynasty league, but on the other hand I'm very excited about the potential here. I either trade him now, or either reap the rewards and have a top 10 rb for the next few years or end up getting hosed royally. I'm inclined to keep him and see what happens, but then again, I'm also a Hillis owner. My team is very much feast for famine. I'm hoping for the former.
 
Unless more info comes out he is a high risk high reward pick... not the kind of pick you want to spend a first or second rounder on simply because you have to get points that will be be as close to guaranteed as possible with both of those picks
 
I've heard also that LT has pretty much come to terms that he is no more than a 3rd down back at this point in his career. He has claimed that its a personal goal of his to be "the best 3rd down back" in the league though...

I'm not sure of Greene's contract details but it would seem to be in the Jets best interests to find out what exactly they have in Greene this year or risk losing him elsewhere. The only way to find out what they got is to give him the rock a bunch of times. I'm a buyer and hope that Powell and McKnight have great Training Camps (if there are) so that Greene's value doesn't reach the 1st or 2nd round.
 
<sigh>...The Greene saga.

I picked him up off waivers near the end of the 2009 season. He was injured late in the year and a contender needed roster space.

I kept him last year at the cost of a 16th round pick. I also had Gore and CJ so it wasn't like I needed him to carry my team.

Now I DO need him to be at LEAST a solid #2. I plan to keep him at the cost of a 15th round pick.

I don't have a lot of faith that the Jets will actually showcase him, but I've invested 2 years and I am ready for dividends.

New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said RB Shonn Greene will be the team's primary running back next season and could receive 18 to 20 carries per game. Schottenheimer said the team believes Greene is ready to take the next step in his development. "He's just gotten better year in and year out. His durability this year was outstanding. You just see the confidence in his eyes. His ability to pick up pass protection stuff has been terrific the last couple years. We expect a breakout season from him. He's a guy that's got just huge, huge, huge potential that we think is right there ready for him to grab," Schottenheimer said.

I disagree. IF he is the centerpiece of the Jets running game like they are claiming he will be, 300+ carries behind a good OL will put him in line for some seriously good numbers for rushing yards and TDs. Plus, he caught 16 passes last year in a limited role, so that's a big jump from zero in his rookie season. As the lead back, I would expect 30 or so receptions. Not great, but enough to put him in the #1 RB class, even in PPR.

There just aren't a lot of true 3 down backs. Assuming a 12 team league, I see Greene as a number one back if he gets the bulk of the work in NY. Definitely a risk-reward pick in a redraft, but the reward could be huge and you can get him in the 3rd round or later in a lot of leagues.
 
Powell could be a great stash in dynasty as I think he may have the most complete skill set of the Jets RBs. When Greene can start the season and handle 250-300 carries I'll jump on the train. The last 2 years he's benefitted from having fresh legs at the end of the season because of his limited usage. He also has bricks for hands. Hes also older than most think and while its not an issue in redraft its something to consider in dynasty.Not a believer that he can avoid injury or sustain a high ypc till I see him handle a big work load successfully

Thats really a positive for his value, not a negative (in both redraft and dynasty)

A runningbacks age has very little to do with their actual age - but everything to do with the pounding they have taken up to that point in their career. There is a reason that in other sports the best are normally in their early 30s - thats the peak physical age for a man.
 
I had him last year so his weak performance is going to be hard to overlook. With that said I think his workload is going to increase with LT calling for a lighter workload if he can control his fumblitis he could break out in 2011. I won't even look his way until late 3rd early 4th.
