Falcons WR White out for tonight?

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White(notes) got a knee banged up in last weekend's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but he went back into the game. But then he didn't practice Monday or Tuesday. White has been responsible for five touchdowns this season and he's gained 99.5 yards receiving per game. There's no doubt the NFC South-leading Falcons would like to have the 27-year-old 2005 first-round pick in action for tonight's game against the Baltimore Ravens. After all, White has the team record for most receiving yards in a season with the 1,382 he gained in 2008.
He returned to the field yesterday but was limited, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The team has listed the two-time Pro Bowler as questionable for tonight

Roddy White is the third most targeted wide receiver in the National Football League and second in the NFL in yardage; needless to say he's an important part of the Atlanta Falcons offensive attack.

So it's good to hear, at least for Matt Ryan's sake, that he's "expected" to play Thursday night against the Ravens -- Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that White will go, even though he's listed as "questionable" with a knee injury.

A lot of teams have star receivers, and suffer greatly when said star receivers go down -- but even with Tony Gonzalez (third most targeted tight end in the league) on the roster, you'd be hard pressed to find a bigger step down from White to Michael Jenkins/Harry Douglas on any other team in the NFL.

Provided White does play, it also says something about how important this game is to the Falcons -- clearly they want to make sure White is available later in the year (perhaps even in February, hmmmmm?), but with the Saints about to embark on a comically easy four-game schedule, Atlanta knows it needs every win it can get right now to stay in the hunt for an NFC South division title, and thus, homefield advantage.
 
Roddy knows he's also got a win-at-home record to help defend. After coming so close to losing it last week he's got to be thinking "No way I'm sitting the sidelines in my own house with the Ravens in town!" at least, that's what I'd be saying.
 
1st reception goes for 28 yards to convert a 3rd and long. 2nd catch on the opening drive converts another 3rd down. Now 4 receptions before I can finish this post

I started him vs. Slabaugh in SOFFL. The reason I started the thread was to try to keep up on any news beofre the game, as i had to attend a Motivational speaker last night and wouldn't be around for Kickoff. I'm glad the news was positive and that I left him in. I'm also glad he pushed off! :cunning:
 
When I heard that Roddy said "Yeah I'm banged up. Its week 10, who isn't?"....thems is fightin words and I felt good leaving him in my lineup.

Michael Jenkins seems to be learning some Roddy tricks too. I bet it wont be too long before we see him getting targeted more to draw coverage off Roddy.
 
Seems like 3 out of 4 plays go to Roddy freekin White. How does this happen? Hello!!! Who else can the Falcons throw to? Gonzo? Jenkins? Really? How is it that Roddy is so open all the time? I don't get it....
