Oakland Raiders RB Michael Bush: reversal of fotunes?

Going into this last season RB Michael Bush was becoming an impending Free-Agent. Speculation was he may be traded away for picks, but that may no longer be true. Rumblings now say Bush may receive the Franchise Tag and RB Darren McFadden may find himself dangling as trade bait instead.

Not sure i like these rumor's, IMO M.Bush is not #1 RB material he is better suited in a backup role, he started out really impressive the first few games after McFadden went down with the foot injury but his stats fell faster than a stock market crash as the season wore on.

Bush may get that franchise tag just to be a pricey insurance policy at RB. Other wise they have to commit to Bush more long term. It might be better to give him 3 years in an extension since his status isn't really as a starting back. Or tender him with a little higher salary and a pick attached? McFadden has two more years left on his rookie contract at $5.65 million in 2012 and $5.86 million in 2013. Can McFaddy bring in some picks in a trade? A lot of this may be determined by the picks either one can bring in as The Raiders could sure use an influx of draft picks after the recently dealing picks away.

If we hop in the old 'way-back' machine it seems to me that Mike thought McFadden would go to Dallas.
I don't know if the rise of that rookie RB will change Mojo's prediction.

I haven't fully searched this site for Mike's actual posts on this subject yet.
It does however, seem like a good time to bring it up.

hopefully someone here will find those posts by Mojo.

the gist was that Jerry Jones had a deal worked out with McFadden were the Cowboys would trade for him once his contract was up.

I'm sure you can confirm coaches having a beef with his conditioning the last few years.

Would anyone want their front office franchise tagging a back that gets gassed?

Hey O! is it a hunch of yours about Bush's conditioning? I ask because you say you're sure it can be confirmed.

it is my humble opinion that Bush has suffered just awful luck with injuries to both himself and those around him.
Bush's last two years in Oakland have been his most productive.

And just more bad luck getting slapped with a one year deal when he could go get a 3 to 5 year deal and finally get that juicy K that injury at Louisville cost him.

No hunch. I read it somewhere but can't remember exactly where. It was in response to someone's questions as to why he wasn't getting more carries - because his rush average was so good at the time. It was two years ago I think?

Looking at his stats, he was above average this year with no consistent decline as the year went, so maybe I'm completely off.

The Raiders are a local team for me.
The Raiders had difficulty, I thought, getting a game plan together with Bush as the focal point because of McFadden's status.
Add in the QB problems, WR injuries, coaching chaos...

With all due respect 007, do you think the decline in Bush's numbers could be the fault of the coaching staff?
I mean, who else did you need to stop other than Bush?

Check me if I'm wrong, please.
But isn't a one year franchise tag the way to go here? They don't need to pony up a big K or cut him loose this way.
Unless there is someone else they should tag?

sadly, if palmer doesn't return to form and their D doesn't ratchet up a bit; any team can fall ass backwards into winning the afc west, but what does it really matter? id keep bush if i were mckenzie for sure, but there are some glaring issues still facing raider nation
