NFL News, Rumors, In/Out - week 3

It shouldn’t be used in football which is the point. Not a football play. The NFL almost banned it but the powers that be are too big of cowards. Since Philly won, it would have looked like they were targeting them. Optics control the NFL.

And yes, you would be whining if it was any other team

OR here is a thought, apply and actually use the EXISTING rules. Huh. what a thought. and... it is a football play.

Says the Niner homer. Talk to Buffalo and other teams who also do this. On a regular basis.

Nope. Not a football play. Wrong again.

What does being a 49er fan have to do with it? Unlike you, my opinions aren’t based on how it affects my favorite team. Always hated the rules change that allowed aiding the runner, which was long before this other BS started. Defenses are at enough of a disadvantage without being able to push a ball carrier forward.

Please show the criteria of what a football play requires

So I am a homer and because the Eagles are so good at it that is why I am against the change? You can throw stones, but no one else.

here is the facts - I don't believe you should make a play illegal because a team has perfected it. Period. Now, as I have stated, you want to stop the Tush Push? Then you have to enforce the existing rules on NOT aiding a ball carrier and enforce it for all plays. That would effective end the Tush Push.

Funny how you can aid/push the runner but if the defense stops the momentum of a player they blow it dead and don't let the defense try and strip the ball.. The push, to me, is aiding a stopped player. They want to allow it on offense they should also let teh defense continue to play until the ball carrier goes down

There are no existing rules against aiding the runner. It’s pretty much anything goes as long as the runner isn’t “pulled” forward.

It was illegal until 2005 when the NFL decided it was “too difficult “ for the officials to determine if a runner was pushed forward. Typical NFL thinking. Don’t hire better (full time), younger and in better shape officials and train them. Instead change the rules to cover inferior officials. Now they want to ban the play but they can’t because they would be “picking” on the Eagles.

Also, it’s not a football play.

Good point

fully agree, if you allow it on one side, you have to allow it on both.

Huh, bad on me, was pretty sure at one point the rules were set on no aid to ball carrier, I knew they had the "pulling" ban. But as we saw this week, they don't enforce it.

Actually looking this up, the issue was the ref's could not differentiate between helping the runner and or pushing the opposing defensive player. Can't see how that could be confusing but evidently it was for the refs. Go figure.

Yes, exactly. Which is why I am against a rule to ban a particular play vs. a huge issue which is helping a ball carrier period.
Also, it’s not a football play.
sure it is, I have seen it multiple times the last few years :D
