PHI - Per Troy Aikman - he supposedly talked to fired HC Doug Pederson and stated that he was told one of the main issues was Wentz. Pederson felt Jalen Hurts was the best Qb to go with and win with, while owner Lurie wanted to put more effort into Wentz as they are tied with way too much money into him. It was not the ONLY issue, but one of the deciding factors. That being said, I find it very interesting that the Eagles are talking to Oklahoma HC as a possible candidate - who was the HC for Hurts. Only in Philly can all this be happening.

DET - Things are really changing here. They have included Hall of Fame Rb Barry Sanders to be on the committee to find a GM and HC, and the HC job is basically being run by Chris Spielman and they are spreading a wide net and including some college coaches as well.

DEN - New GM George Patton has language in his contract protecting him from flux in the ownership issues with Denver, he will get what he was guaranteed to get, regardless of who ends up with ownership control there - good for him!

Jaguars hired Urban Meyer as head coach.

The worst-kept secret in the NFL was officially announced by Jags owner Shad Khan on Thursday evening. Meyer is one of the greatest college coaches of all time — and one of the premier football minds of the 21st century — but he has never so much as been a position coach at the NFL level. He is also known for burning incredibly bright before burning out under the weight of stress and expectations. Nevertheless, the 56-year-old is entering into an uncommonly golden opportunity for success, as the Jags own the No. 1 pick — Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence — have an imposing overall picks cache and are awash in salary cap space. Meyer could turn this around in a real hurry. The Jags' next order of business is finding Meyer a general manager, one who will presumably be more or less hand-picked by the head coach.
