After several years of subpar play at the QB position LSU fans have awaited the day that Zach Mattenberger takes over the often times anemic passing role for the purple & gold. Zach will be a junior next season and his path to the Red Stick was interesting to say the least. As a redshirt freshman for the Bulldogs of Georgia he was kicked off of the team after being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct at a bar. He moved on to Butler Community College which he promptly led to the national Junior College title game back in 2010. Zach was heavily recruited after his junior college experience but he rewarded the Tiger coaching staff for sticking with him through all of his trials and tribulations. Mattenberger chose Georgia over LSU after his high school elgebility expired. Last season Zach played in only 1 game for the SEC powerhouse Tigers where he attempted only 11 passes as he ran the offense for the entire second half vs in state college Northwestern. He looked really good in that lone appearence. Tiger fans have called for him for more than a year now and this Thursday his time arrives. Here's to wishing Zach future success as the leader of my Tigers.
