Jermichael Finley now on IR

The best backup for the job is already in house, and will highlight the DEEP END this week. Quarles will do just fine! He will also do well if Rodgers misses a week.
 
Finley out is sure to cost Rodgers a few points in fantasy play. Those 2 have become money in the bank playing together.

IF Rodgers plays. He is coming off a concussion as well. Might not want to start your Drivers, Jennings or Jones this week.

Jermichael Finley's timetable to return from knee surgery is actually more like 6-10 weeks, not the 3-6 weeks as originally reported, according to the National Football Post's Brad Biggs.

It sounds like the surgery included a full meniscus repair, as opposed to a routine "scope." The National Football Post also has close ties to the Packers, so such a negative report holds water. According to NFP, "there is no way Finley will be back in the next month." If Finley's recovery takes him near the 10-week mark, he could be done for the the regular season. The 3-2 Packers would figure to keep Finley on the active roster in hopes of a postseason return. We'd try to hang onto Finley in 12-team leagues as a TE2, but it'll get harder by the week.

According to a report, there's a chance Packers TE Jermichael Finley could be out for the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. The National Football Post reports Wednesday that Finley, who was initially expected to miss three to six weeks with the injury, could be out six to 10 weeks. The reports also states Finley could be out for the season. However, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that while Finley will be out longer than the three weeks initially expected, he is not in danger of missing the rest of the year.

Analysis: It appears like the recovery time for Finley remains unknown, and with any knee surgery there's always a chance a player could be out for the season. We'll continue to monitor his progress, and hopefully he can return sometime in the next six weeks. If you are in a dire situation and need to drop Finley to add another tight end then that might be a move you have to make. Otherwise keep him stashed on your roster and hope he makes a speedy recovery because when healthy he is a No. 1 Fantasy TE in all leagues.

Finley has already had the knee scoped, which will keep him out for a month. If he has the meniscus repaired, it would be a longer recovery time, but his long-term outlook would be more positive. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Greg A. Bedard says the Packers are "deciding right now what to do" with the tight end. They could wait it out and hope for a late-season return or possibly go ahead and place him on IR.

I grabbed Quarless and put Finley on IR. I hope the Packers follow suit! :homer:It makes too much sense to go for the meniscus repair and shelve him for next season. Either way I don't see him offering much until after week 11's game at the Metro Dome in Minneapolis. Get him fixed up Coach! I am a STOCK HOLDER DAMBIT!

Jermichael Finley (torn lateral meniscus) has reportedly begun informing teammates that he's done for the 2010 season.

The Packers need roster room to activate Atari Bigby, Al Harris, and James Starks from the PUP list next week, so Finley is likely headed to I.R. Cautious owners can wait for the move to become official, but with Wednesday as the typical fantasy waiver wire deadline, feel free to cut Finley loose now.

Fantasy football aside, this kid is a lot of fun to watch with his size and speed. One of the most "natural" receivers I have seen especially from the TE position. Hope he comes back strong next year.

I would be lying if I told you anything other than, he is a far superior athlete with much more upside than Lee. His role will be the role Finley played as he has the abilities for that role. Lees role will stay the same though he will likely be leaned on more when healthy. He just can't do what Finley or Quarless can do athletically.
