rotoworld,

Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com expects Dez Bryant to play "a lot" as a rookie if he doesn't stumble in picking up the playbook.

"Don't just presume that this supremely talented rookie can't make a dent right away," cautions Phillips. Playing time predictions from the local media have been all over the map, but they all agree on one thing: Bryant's explosiveness off the line, hands, and catch radius are every bit as good as they were billed to be.

Roy E. Williams acknowledged that he is in a competition with rookie Dez Bryant to keep his starting job.

Williams had high praise for the Cowboys' first-round pick on Tuesday. "He's going to be right there regardless," Williams said. "The dude is scary. The dude is good and he doesn't even know it yet. Once the light bulb goes on he will probably be the best in the league. He's a man among boys."

(KFFL)Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (illness) left the team's offseason workout early Tuesday, May 25, after he became ill, sources told ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins. One source said Bryant was suffering from food poisoning but is expected to return to practice Wednesday, May 26.

Multiple sources are reporting this and they all say that it is no big deal.

(KFFL)Dallas Cowboys WR Roy Williams said rookie WR Dez Bryant is a tremendous talent who doesn't even realize how good he can be, according to David Moore, of The Dallas Morning News. "The dude is scary,'' Williams said. "The dude is good and he doesn't even know it yet. Once the light bulb goes on he will probably be the best in the league. He's a man among boys. He's got big hands. Real big hands. When he shakes my hand, his fingers come up to my elbows.''

Now that right there is a BIG set of hands or it could be that Roy is short arming his handshake with Dez as he did many of his missed passes last season. Come on Roy, extend your reach a bit.

(nfl.com)Cowboys rookie WR Dez Bryant returned to practice on Wednesday after missing on Tuesday with a stomach virus. That is about the only thing to slow down the first-round draft pick, who has been rather impressive in every practice so far.

Oops! (KFFL)Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (hip) suffered a slight hip pointer during the team's practice Wednesday, May 26, reports ESPNDallas.com's Calvin Watkins, citing a source. The injury is not considered serious.

rotoworld,
Dez Bryant is already running with the Cowboys' first-team offense in three-receiver sets at OTAs.

In three-wideout sets, Bryant and Roy Williams are likely out wide with Miles Austin in the slot. This might not be the case if slot receiver Patrick Crayton was around, but Crayton has asked to be released and is boycotting workouts. Either way, the Cowboys are pushing Bryant into a big role early. We don't think he'll struggle to be a top-30 fantasy receiver in year one.

It's interesting to hear Roy Williams complimenting the rookie who may be taking his job. You usually expect outbursts when it comes to him losing playing time. If Dez Bryant is as good as I'm hearing, I wonder if Williams will remain as supportive throughout the season.

rotoworld,
Dez Bryant was held out of team drills Tuesday with tightness in his left hamstring.

"They didn't want to take any chances," Bryant said. "It's not frustrating at all. I'm just following orders, and they wanted to hold me out until (Wednesday). I feel like I'm picking up the offense." Patrick Crayton ran with the second team while Sam Hurd filled in as the No. 3 receiver. Bryant is expected to resume practicing on Wednesday, so the hamstring is not a major concern.
