Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, who sprained his left ankle against the Saints in their preseason opener on Friday, will not play in their next preseason game this Thursday against the Patriots. On Monday Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said Palmer has a "mild to moderate high ankle sprain," according to ESPN.com. Palmer says he plans to play the final two preseason games.

Palmer just can't seem to catch a break, he will miss this weeks game and maybe more....

I hate seeing high ankle sprain in an injury report because they're really unpredictable and tend to linger on longer than a traditional ankle sprain down in the joint.

I'm with Wes on this one. High ankle sprain says to me 2-8 weeks. So while Palmer says he will be in action for the final two preseason games I would think not. Sounds like he may be ready for the regular season but I won't bet any serious vbucks on his making any more preseason appearances.

It's his left ankle which isn't quite so bad for a pocket passer. Plus he's been getting great protection.

Maybe it won't be so bad.

Protection's gonna take a beating if Andre Smith continues the holdout, plus they lost Stacy Andrews to Philly.

Crap! Crap! Crap!

I knew this could be an issue.

Still, an ankle for an immobile Qb isn't that big a deal. But with the O-line rebuild.....ewww.....

Sigh...time to look at another Qb in SUDFFL. don't want to rely on Pennington if Palmer is down long.

2nd year OT Anthony Collins has looked pretty good during camp and is playing RT in Smith's absence. It's not the starting 5 that worries me, it's what is behind them or maybe better put what is not behind them....there is NO depth on this line, especially with Smith sitting at home.....
