  • ESPN's Dianna Russini has reported that sources with the Raiders indicate the team is operating is if Antonio Brown will play Monday night.
Specifically, the source stated, "We all see the post but you won’t believe me when I tell you that everyone is just working. We are operating like he is playing." This seems like poor planning. Between the Raiders voiding Brown's guaranteed money and AB himself requesting a release, it'd be shocking if he suits up Monday night against the Broncos. Then again, this story might still just be getting started.

What to believe?

  • ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio reports the Raiders may try to place Antonio Brown on the reserve/left squad list.
Brown would need to be away from the team for five days to be eligible. It's one possible outcome for how the Raiders move forward with Brown, who has no plans of playing for Oakland after they voided his guaranteed money. Placing Brown on the left squad list would shut him down for the season and prevent him from joining another team. There's unlikely to be much league interest in Brown given his off-field baggage. The Raiders best bet may be trying to trade him next offseason.

Cha-Ching!

  • NFL.com's Tom Pelissero has reported that the Falcons and Julio Jones are finalizing a multi-year extension.
The extension will reportedly make Jones the NFL's highest-paid receiver. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport added that the deal should end up at three years and be worth roughly $66 million. Pelissero noted that while there are still minor issues to work out, the deal should be done today. Jones showed some hesitation throughout the week in regards to his game status without a new contract, but those issues should be put to rest with confirmation of this deal. He's expected to be shadowed by Xavier Rhodes Sunday against the Vikings, although it's a winnable matchup against a cornerback who was significantly better in 2016-2017 than 2018.

  • Raiders released WR Antonio Brown.
Wow. AB requested his release Saturday morning and was granted it before noon. It's unclear what type of market he'll have after back-to-back breakdowns with both the Steelers and Raiders, especially considering the lack of guaranteed money he'll likely draw on the open market. Brown's time with the Raiders might be over, but we haven't heard the last of this story.
