Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed Friday that SS Eric Berry is out for the season with a ruptured Achilles.

It's a massive blow to the Chiefs' secondary as Berry was phenomenal against Rob Gronkowski in Thursday's opener and has been among the league's best safeties since arriving on the scene as a first-round pick in 2010.

Texans RB Alfred Blue (ankle) is out for Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Will Fuller (collarbone) has also been ruled out. Blue is still nursing a high-ankle sprain he suffered during training camp. Third-round rookie D'Onta Foreman will back up workhorse Lamar Miller in Sunday's opener.

NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports Odell Beckham (ankle) will travel with the team to Dallas ahead of Sunday night's matchup with the Cowboys.

It is a promising sign, but Beckham is still at best a game-time decision. In reality, his chances of suiting up may not even be that good. Sterling Shepard would stand to benefit the most if Beckham is forced to sit.

It's going to mess with a lot of people because there are a lot of leagues that won't allow waivers until after this week

Redskins' Jordan Reed: Could have fractured toe
by RotoWire Staff
(1 hr ago) Reed is still dealing with pain in his big toe and there is a possibility that it is fractured, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports.
Reed, who is not listed on the injury report for Week 1, was limited throughout training camp, including after the area flared up following a stem-cell treatment. He will apparently try to play through the pain, but it's something that could certainly hamper him on the field

The latest on Bad Luck.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Andrew Luck (shoulder) is likely to miss "several more weeks."

The good news is Luck is nearing the end of a strength-building program for his surgically repaired shoulder, and can "finally see the light at the end of the tunnel," per La Canfora. Unfortunately, Luck hasn't even resumed throwing yet and the Colts don't even have a timetable for Luck to resume practicing, although it's expected "sooner rather than later." Either way, fantasy owners who drafted Luck can't expect to have him for perhaps upwards of a month, if not more. All Colts skill-position players around him will be severely adversely affected in weekly box scores.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, John Ross (questionable, knee) is not expected to play Sunday's Week 1 game against the Rams.

Ross will try to work out before the game but it's still a long shot that he plays this week.

SiriusXM's Adam Caplan thinks Chris Carson will rotate with Eddie Lacy if Thomas Rawls (ankle) does not play against the Packers.

Even after a strong preseason, Carson was always just a stash in hopes of an injury, and, as it turns out, it looks like those hopes will come to fruition in Week 1, with Rawls not expected to play because of an ankle issue. Lacy should start and C.J. Prosise should handle the passing-down work, but Carson could end up getting the most touches if he shows as well as he did in the preseason.

Don't do it!

It means Leonard Fournette could see an expanded passing-game role.
