Tyrod Taylor (concussion) returned to practice Monday.

It is a bit of a shock after coach Sean McDermott said his Week 1 status was "up in the air" on Monday morning. He is not out of the protocol and only working in individual drills, but this work gives Taylor a good shot to suit up against the Jets on Sunday.

Speaking Monday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was noncommittal on Thomas Rawls' (ankle) Week 1 status.

Carroll said he expects to find out Rawls' status during the week, and that C.J. Prosise, who also has an ankle injury, is "a little ahead" of Rawls in his recovery. It's beginning to look like Eddie Lacy has backed into a Week 1 start against this former team Green Bay. Prosise will handle passing downs.

Browns first-round DE Myles Garrett suffered a high-ankle sprain in Wednesday's practice.

The Browns did not release a timetable, but this injury can take more than a month to recover from. It is a tough break for the No. 1 overall pick, who showed extremely well in the preseason. Nate Orchard is the next man up at right end.

Bad news for Brown's fans and likely you in some leagues.

Chiefs released RB C.J Spiller.

OL Jordan Devey is also being let go. In the span of five days, Spiller has been cut by the Chiefs, re-signed and released for a second time. Charcandrick West will back up Kareem Hunt in Thursday night's opener at Foxboro.

There has to be something going on there, some other RB they want to get or think they are getting. Otherwise this makes no sense, I also don't think they want to go only 2 Rbs

Patriots placed WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) on injured reserve.

It's unclear if Mitchell will be a candidate for return. Mitchell fell to the fourth round in last year's draft because of concerns over his history of knee issues. They cropped up late in the year and ended up sidelining him for most of this summer's camp. Mitchell's profile is that of an NFL difference-maker when healthy, but "when healthy" is proving to be not often enough. 2017 is Mitchell's age-24 season. He's on shaky ground in Dynasty leagues.

There is no more designation. I can't believe NFL writers aren't aware of the change. Any player put on the IR after the 53 cutdown is eligible to return, team can bring 2 back.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Odell Beckham (questionable, ankle) will be a game-day decision for Week 1.

It puts fantasy owners in a bind because the Giants and Cowboys play on Sunday Night Football, meaning we won't know Beckham's status until after all of the early games are locked for fantasy lineup decisions. If Beckham can't go, Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard, and Evan Engram would stand to benefit.
