Can a GB fan provide some analysis of whether this is a move of any import?
GBG will have a better grasp on individual player talent in Green Bay. I am not a detail guy in any way shape or form, as you have likely noticed. :) I feel something and express it!

That Army Safety from last years draft is a very close friend of my daughter. (Caleb Campbell) He is from here. My daughter was in her little brothers class. He was the one legged dude who cleaned up at the para-olympics this year. (Jeremy Campbell) I wish the Army wouldn't have screwed him over (Caleb). He recovered well though and is now part of an American Bobsled team!!! I just wanted you to know about two kids from here i was very proud of, and that one of them had Lion connections.

I've been waiting to hear from her.

He seemed impressive and I was looking forward to seeing what he could do in training camp. Would appreciate it if you could update us on how he is doing.

Detroit Lions' last all-pro quarterback wished team would have drafted defense

Posted by Justin Rogers | MLive.com May 10, 2009 00:41AM

Thought I'd throw this one out there before calling it a night.
Greg Landry, former Detroit Lions quarterback, and the team's last all-pro at the position, had a pretty interesting comment this week about the Lions' draft.
May 9, Holland Sentinel Several Lions fans booed over the selection of Stafford and not of Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry, considered by many as the best player in the 2009 draft. "I was hoping the Lions would have taken a defensive player with their first two picks," Landry said. "I really believe they need more help defensively than offensively."
You and just about everyone else Greg.
Of course, it's not difficult to see what the Lions are attempting to establish by drafting a player like Pettigrew, and there were several offseason moves made to address the defense, including the recent acquisition of Larry Foote.
Only time will tell if the Lions made the right draft-day decisions.
As it currently stands, Landry isn't setting the bar very high for his former team.

Was that the same day the team signed Foote? Wonder if his opinion changed at all knowing the team had signed a MLB to clear the #1 pick for our next All Pro QB.

The reason we released Jason Hunter was b/c he became expendable with our transition to a 3-4 as he would have had to make a transition to an OLB (from DE) and he just didn't have the build for it. It seemed completely unlikely that he would fare well and we needed roster room for some potential players after their successful rookie camps.

Detroit employs a 4-3, as you know, so Hunter should be a better fit there. He was great on our special teams a few years ago, but simply got overshadowed and the subsequently phased out. That was why he was released, unfortunately, I mean...the kid does not suck ass by any means. You can see that by the fact that we tried to keep him and make him useful in our new scheme. Just didn't work out.

By the way, sorry I didn't respond to this earlier. I don't usually tread around in threads with "Detroit", "Chicago", or "Minnesota" in the title. :)

We need a DE but from what I've read/heard he is not an upgrade from what we already have and it is a longshot he makes the final roster. Only heard good things about his motor/attitude... nice for training camp but probably nothing more.

If he could rebound from last year and return to the special team specialist it might be a different story.

No apologies - just figured you were the resident expert on the Packers and was hoping you would eventually stumble into the thread. I originally avoided the Favre thread for the same reason but it is like rubbernecking as you go past an auto accident - you just gotta look. :)

Cooley Cadets all about posting intelligent, and some how figures in a little Hunter S.que ness.

mad propers.

seems like a sin to waste all this talent on the Lions

Where was there even a LITTLE hint of Hunter S. in there? I would surely like to know.

Am I just tired? I don't follow your post. Could be because I've killed a few brain cells on the Vick thread.

Talk about killing brain cells.... If you even attempt to decipher Mustang's ramblings, you will be brain dead in less than 24 hours.

In a fifth form, the four horsemen rode forth.* And the victories accumulated at their feet.

Come see and behold, and lo upon a white horse rode Matt Stafford; and he sat on him with a cannon of an arm: and there was given unto Matt a championship crown, and by the time he departed, he had conquered.

"And there went out upon the field another horse that was red: and power was given to Louis Delmas who sat thereon to take peace from the opposition wielding power over his domain, the defensive backfield, as though wielding a sword. Attempt as they might the enemies of those known, as the Lions could not, would not score.

Yet a third, three-headed horseman, was conveyed upon the field straddling a stallion of the blackest ink who starved the fighting spirit of all who lined up against them. Larry surrounded by Ernie and Julius caused hunger to all seeking to mount a ground attack. Before the pigskin is even touched by the famished few, they had already been denied the whetting of their appetite for a 1st down much less a score.

The fourth horseman, commonly referred to as “The Freak” was originally the only one whose name was easily distinguishable. Come, see, and behold Calvin Johnson. Power was given to him to receive the rounds fired from Stafford’s arm and create a margin of victory that was to grow by 6s.

*Other forms include the horsemen of the apocalypse, Notre Dame’s backfield 1922-1924, the 4 Supreme Court Justices who consistently opposed New Deal legislation, and a hand in poker of 4 kings (I refuse to include the perversion presented by wrestling in the 90’s in my tally.

you're officially removed from my emergency contacts list.

You don't know how great I am to finally be off this damned list. I don't really appreciate getting called at 3am with details about what was lodged up your anus this week.....

Would this work if you wanted to quote from 3 different posts or would I have to open a 2nd window to accomplish that?
