Texas Christian trashes Virginia

One week after the most embarressing loss in school history, Al Groh and Virginia looked to untrack the "Star Wars" offense against Texas Christian.

Nope.

Texas Christian used its trademark smothering defense to hammer Virginia 30-14 Saturday. Make no mistake fans, this game was not as close as the score indicated. Though Virginia did find a way to not cough up the ball another 7 times, they likely couldnt cough up anything with TCU ramming said ball down their throats.

A few stats:

Virginia's new spread offense finished with 177 total yards. 83 of those came on a garbage TD in junk time after the Horned Frogs had already smashed the Cavaliers.

Virginia took ZERO snaps inside the TCU 20

TCU gutted Virginia for 203 yards rushing to go with 2 rushing scores.

The score was 30-0 with under 5 min left.

Quite simply for the second week in a row, Virginia looked totally unable to move the ball. After the game embatted coach Al Groh said:
"We understood it was going to be rugged moving the ball, but still, we expect more out of ourselves, They were the No. 7 team in the country last year and it is pretty apparent why they're ranked highly. Their quarterback is an excellent player. He was really able to control the game in a lot of different ways."

Translation: They kicked our ass up one side and down the other. My grandmother could have QBd TCU to a 10-0 win.

TCU moves on in its quest for a Mountain West title and possible BCS birth next week against Texas State, a FCS team which should present more of a challenge. Virginia tries to avoid an 0-3 start against the powerful spread offense of Southern Mississippi.
