Just read this little nugget:
While Redskins HC Mike Shanahan confirmed that RB Clinton Portis will start this weekend's game against the Eagles, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora is hearing that the team plans on pushing Portis into more of a 3rd-down role, while RB Ryan Torain takes over lead back duties. Portis is clearly washed-up, as evidenced by his 3.7 yards-per-carry average this year. Torain could move into the starting lineup before the end of October.
Shanahan knows him and apparently likes him more than Portis...could be a nice pick up for later in the year.
