 Coach doesn't agree that it is his scheme that is shutting down OJ.

  • Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said O.J. Howard can play "a heck of a lot better than he's playing."
Howard, who many pegged as a breakout candidate this year, has been invisible in the early going, tallying just four catches for 32 yards while earning PFF's worst grade among qualified tight ends. When asked of Howard's early struggles, Arians said, "You’d probably have to ask him. He has so much talent. He can play a heck of a lot better than he’s playing." Howard's goose egg Thursday at Carolina (he wasn't even targeted) was certainly not what fantasy owners anticipated when they spent a mid-round pick on him in fantasy drafts this summer.

  • NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Cowboys have reached an "impasse" in extension talks with Dak Prescott.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said a new deal for Prescott was "imminent" last week, though apparently that's not the case as contract talks have stalled between the two sides with a resolution not expected in the "foreseeable future." Per Rapoport, the holdup may have to do with Prescott's desire for a short-team deal that would allow him to cash in "sooner." For his part, Prescott was brilliant against the Giants in Week 1, slinging 405 yards and four touchdowns in his first game under OC Kellen Moore.

The Steelers are traded a 2020 first-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for DB Fitzpatrick.

Good for them cuz they're going to be playing a lot of defense this year
