LAC/NE trade - Chargers sends CB J.C. Jackson and a 2025 7th rd pick to New England for a 2025

edit to add, Chargers will eat most of the $12 million salary this year
I really liked the signing for the Chargers at the time. But was a disaster.

Bears GM says he wishes Claypool the best in the future.

Yeah he ain't coming back but...

Who takes him? He's put nothing but terrible effort and attitude on tape for quite a while now.

Broncos are paying all of the remaining prorated $14M base salary, minus the prorated veteran minimum. It's the same amount the Broncos would have paid if he had been released and signed elsewhere for the prorated vet minimum.

Also, SF wants to get him "up to speed as quickly as possible" so he can play this weekend vs his old cowgirls team.

Cheap AF depth
The 49ers are paying Randy Gregory only $840,000 guaranteed and they have 4 seasons over team control now — through 2026.

This is a flier trade and that's value.

If Gregory plays well alongside Nick Bosa and Javon Hargrave under Kris Kocurek, the 49ers will have some real option power after this season

Even after the Randy Gregory trade, the 49ers still hold a projected 11 picks in the 2024 NFL Draft (a 6th-rounder goes to Denver and a 7th-rounder comes back to SF) — this draft marks a major part of their team-sustenance plan:

1. Round 1
2. Round 2
3. Round 3
4. Round 3 comp
5. Round 3 comp
6. Round 4
7. Round 4 (via Trey Lance trade)
8. Round 5 comp
9. Round 6 (traded to Denver for Randy Gregory)
10. Round 6 comp
11. Round 7
12. Round 7 (received from Denver in Gregory trade)

Teams need to take notes here. THIS is how you sustain success

The picks in this trade are 2025, not 2024
