Before the Dallas Cowboys even held their first padded practice of training camp, they suffered a blow to their defense with pass rusher Sam Williams suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, a source told ESPN on Sunday.

The injury will end Williams' season before it could really begin.

Williams was injured during the special teams' portion of practice after he was engaged in a blocking drill. He remained down for several minutes as he was attended to by the Cowboys' medical staff. He could not put any weight on his leg as he got on a cart and was taken to the locker room.

5. 2025 base salary: $25.046 million, fully guaranteed.

6. 2025 per-game active roster bonus: $750,000, total.

7. 2026 offseason workout bonus: $250,000.

The deal also includes $9 million in potential incentives, for 2025 through 2028. Each year, he can get: (1) $250,000 for 50-percent regular-season playing time and 50-percent playing time in a wild-card win; (2) $500,000 for 50-percent regular-season playing time and 50-percent playing time in a divisional-round win; (3) $500,000 for 50-percent regular-season playing time and 50-percent playing time in a conference championship win; and (4) $1 million for 50-percent regular-season playing time and 50-percent playing time in a Super Bowl win.

The contract has $93.171 million fully guaranteed at signing, and a practical guarantee of $147.171 million, since another $54 million due in 2026 vests in 2025.

It’s a three-year commitment to Tua, with only $3 million in guarantees that would linger into 2027, if the Dolphins decide to move on.

Still, if they do move on, he’d end up with more than $150 million for those three years.

10. 2027 base salary: $41.9 million, $20 million of which is guaranteed for injury at signing and becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2026 league year. ($31.5 million will convert to an option bonus in 2027.)

13. 2028 base salary: $43.9 million.

The deal also includes $250,000 in Pro Bowl escalators for 2025 through 2028, based on making the Pro Bowl in 2024 through 2027. There’s also a $250,000 Pro Bowl incentive for 2028, pushing the upside to $1.25 million.

The four-year, $220 million extension ($55 million per year in new money) combines with the existing $10.5 base salary for 2024, creating a five-year, $230.5 million deal ($46.1 million per year).

The deal has $100.8 million fully guaranteed at signing, with a practical guarantee of $140.3 million. After only two seasons, the full guarantee moves to $160.3 million.

The contract binds the Packers to Love for three years. If they’d release him after the 2026 season, they’d be saddled with $20 million in guaranteed salary for 2027, subject to offset.
