Lets take a look at each team to see who may or may not be on the hot seat.
AFC:
East:
New England Patriots - Mike Vrabel - Safe : We are watching the fact they aren't quite as far as thought, and the weak schedule last year helped. But still this is a solid team vs. Late model Belichick versions.
Buffalo Bills - Joe Brady - Safe - New HC, who is offensive minded, and does it ever show. Good thing they score so much, cause they are a sieve at D.
New York Jets - Aaron Glenn - Hot - yes he has only been there a short time. But the team is awful and even the defense (his expertise) is bad most games. I think he is on a very, very short leash
Miami Dolphins - Jeff Hafley - Safe - team is bad and he is new. So rebuild has just started. But they are fighting and its not as bad as it was.
North:
Pittsburgh Steelers - Mike McCarthy - Safe - they are 5-2, with an ancient HC. But they are using a solid running game, and a solid defense to win games with.
Cleveland Browns - Todd Monken - Safe - they are also 5-2, and quite frankly are the surprise of the year IMO. Watson is looking usable - which is a HUGE improvement. Young Wrs are starting to show out and Fannin is solid at TE. Still need help on OL, but he has definitely righted the ship.
Cincinnati Bengals - Zac Taylor - Warm - Bengals are 4-2. Defense is better, but the offense has stalled, need to get running game going more and not let Joe try to throw every play. I personally bet if they don't make the playoffs, Zac may be looking for a job.
Baltimore Ravens - Jesse Minter - Warm - will he be fired, No. But Baltimore has way too much talent to keep losing these games, and the disappearance in the second half is terrible. Granted Lamar Jackson is a key injury - but they just don't look cohesive and its a bad look.
South:
Jacksonville Jaguars - Liam Coen - Safe - they are 4-2 and coming off the bye. The loss to Texans looks really really bad right now. But offense is still clicking, and Defense is okay. I wonder if they make a move at RB here? Jonathan Taylor anyone?
Indianapolis Colts - Shane Steichen - Hot
- they are 2-5. Daniel Jones looks terrible, and the defense is weak. This may be the hottest seat right now, as the GM has already been fired.
Houston Texans - DeMeco Ryans - Warm - they are also at 2-5. Offense is finally starting to show up, but defense has been run on and beaten. Not a good look. I think Ryans may be safe. But at this rate, if he continues to lose games like this, he may be on a short leash.
Tennessee Titans - Robert Salah - Warm - yeah they are bad. We knew they were going to be bad. I see flashes at times, but they are bad. My concern is I am seeing little development or growth from Cam Ward, and thus the rookie Tate can't get the ball as often as he needs. Salah could be a one year wonder at this point.
West:
Kansas City Chiefs - Andy Reid - Safe - they are 5-1 and offensively they win when they can run. Andy needs a real #1 WR badly. I won't be shocked if they make a trade before the deadline. Defense is good enough if the offense is moving the ball. But the road map is made now. Seattle showed, if you take Walker away, you can beat the Chiefs.
Denver Broncos - Sean Payton - Safe - he has basically taken back the play calling and while it isn't a fix all - they are still winning. Defense still carries this team, but Bo at least is using his legs again.
Las Vegas Raiders - Klint Kubiak - Safe - They are 3-4, but he has made Kirk Cousins viable again, and he is working the running game. Defense has holes and I still think they may try to deal Maxx Crosby before the deadline. And best part is future QB is getting to watch and learn and not get killed.
Los Angeles Chargers - Jim Harbaugh - Hot
- He is a goner, calling it now. This is the worst looking team I have seen this year. This seat is so hot, its scary, even more than Steichen. Adios Jim..... been a treat.
