  • -- Singletary Won't Rule Out Vick --

  • ESPN's Mike Sando reports San Francisco 49ers HC Mike Singletary's comments about QB Michael Vick following practice Thursday merit careful handling. Here's what Singletary said when asked about the 49ers' possibly having interest in Vick at some point: "Don't know right now. That's something going forward, you just never know. I don't want to say absolutely not, because I'm not there. But, I'm certainly not going to say yes. I'm just saying it's one of those things that [general manager] Scot [McCloughan] and I will continue to talk about. But, we like the guys we have here. Very excited about Shaun [Hill], very excited about Alex [Smith] and we've got enough on that plate right now."

So say Vick does get reinstated back into the NFL, What are his chances of becoming a QB again? Wouldn't teams be more likely to try him in other positions ? Like waterboy.

I hope that its only a thought by Singletary, never seen Vick do much as a starting QB except run, and i'm sure he will not be any better if reinstated.

I gotta tell you, ask a Niner fan. They saw this coming a mile away.

And really, it's not like Mike killed anyone. or beat his wife/bitch.

He got jammed up for a cool Hun Plus Mil.

Singletary wants to keep his job so as he may move on. It really is his one shot.

Maybe Ron Mexico has a role. And Coach Mike is going to take a long hard look.

Maybe Vicky did not kill anyone, but the dog fighting is a vicious senseless act and innocent dogs died at the hands of Vicky and his band of dumb MFers just to make a buck. I really think Vicky should be put in a pit and chewed the f*ck out of and thrown away like trash as the poor dogs did. If you cant tell by now i really hate what Vicky did and wish him nothing but bad karma to come his way.

Dude, cock fights/dog fights... has been around for ages. I can completely understand the aversion to this but can you see that you are the same as Vick? If anything worse - you want to do the same thing to a human.

Vick paid the price for his financing the fights and should be allowed to move on. Since he is still with Atlanta I don't know if a team would trade to acquire him but if he is released I would be shocked if there was not a team with the ka-hon-ees to sign him on the cheap to see what he has left to contribute to a team.

I dont like the fact that some think that what Vick did seems to be OK. Yes i said what i said as a way to get my point across, i dont really want any harm to happen to Vick but sometimes i open mouth insert foot and say whats on my mind before thinking, so sue me, i'm opinionated by nature. "And thats my story and i'm sticking to it"

Go to my profile
and look at the pic of my 4-month old pit puppy "Jixer". Now i ask you, how could anyone raise a puppy as cool as he is and fight it to the death and throw it away like garbage. I will tell you who a non-human heartless prick.

What I don't get is guys like James Harrison, and Larry Johnson have numerous domestics with girlfriends, and they don't even draw a suspension. We take a guy who mistreated DOGS and we throw away the key. I am a dog lover, but I am also a person who feels the treatment of a women should be handled more severely then that of a dog. Can you even imagine smacking your GF/wife??? These athletes involved in domestics should be banished from the game.

I'm totally in favor of Vick never being re-instated to the NFL.

I also realize that will never happen.

I'm afraid your correct, Vicky will eventually be reinstated, how soon is anyone's guess. What ever team decides to take him will be getting the animal rights activists along with the media going after them in force with negative press and i'm sure no team wants that kind of bad press. I cant see Vicky helping any team improve at this juncture in his life and being away from the game for a while wont help him either.

Redskins | Dan Snyder to pursue Michael Vick? Sun May 24, 08:45 PM
Would the Redskins take a chance on Michael Vick? Don't rule it out. Owner Daniel Snyder loves the big splash and might be willing to gamble on Vick, who grew up in nearby Newport News, Va. There's no question that the Redskins would like an upgrade at quarterback with Jason Campbell entering the final year of his deal, and they likely would be willing to gamble on players with questionable character, given the $54 million deal they gave to CB DeAngelo Hall.
Our view: This sounds like a Dan Snyder move - or an Al Davis one. Michael Vick will have to be reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell before we can really speculate where he could play in 2009. Redskins CB DeAngelo Hall is also very close to Vick and may be privately pushing for the team to take a longer look at the troubled QB.

I have to agree with you here. Not sure if any team really wants that kind of media attention. After reading 2 posts up from me , it looks like Wash. is at least entertaining the idea some. That seems a little too close too home , i was thinking he would want to get as far away from all that as possible.

I don't think he was all that as a qb before this happened, now after this time away from the game, what makes teams think he is going to be any better?

San Francisco could use a QB who can compliment Singletary's commitment to the ground game. Vick can run. The other QBs cant. I think his legs and 55% passing arm would fit the bill for a ground powered attack.

Washington has a decent QB. Im not sure why the hell Danny boy wants to get rid of JC. Im assuming he feels he could work Vick ala the Wildcat or something on the cheap.

Before he broke his leg in Atlanta, he had some major speed and moves. After the incident, he lost a few steps, now out of the game and trying to come back, i just can't see him being half the mediocre qb he was in the first place.

The man served his time, and should be allowed to play by the league.

That said, if I was the the owner of an NFL franchise, there is no way in hell I am putting this guy on the payroll, unless I truly felt like the guy had learned a valuable lesson.

I agree , as a owner, i wouldn't want him anywhere near my team. Not because he doesn't deserve a second chance, i just wouldn't want all the media hype and peta at every game.

All this aside, he still has to be re-instated and be able to prove he can still play and make a roster. BTW , how old is vick now?
