LeGarrette Blount should be suspended for the season

lol, hout did not shove him, he ran by and tapped on on the shoulder pads to get his attention and made a comment.....Blount started the war of words, if he can't take it, he shouldn't dish it out! Hout and the rest of the Boise St defense closed Blount's mouth the way you are supposed to! On the field with -5 yds rushing......Blout took a cheap shot because his game was not good enough to back up his big mouth. It's assault, period.

Why is a year suspension too long for assault and then trying to provoke a public riot by going after the fans? You just can not have these kids behaving like this. Let him sit out the year and come back next year and get a second chance. I don't think a year is harsh at all given the behavior displayed.

And why are we suspending the DE again? He tapped him on the shoulder pad in passing and gave Blount some of the smack talk he gave them back.....hardly suspension worthy IMO, if it is, then anyone talking any smack should be suspended....

The reason the DE is at fault is that it's easy to talk smack after you've won. Being a sore loser is one thing, being a sore winner is worse. BTW, all he did was pop this guy a little bit. Steve Smith did that to his own teammate and only got a 2 game suspension.
What would've happened to Hout for being an ass about winning if Blount didn't react at all? Nothing. We want Blount to learn control. Great, I agree. Who teaches these guys to win with class? Oh no one, that's why they act the way they do in the NFL as well.

Right. Tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. Even if you believe that. Hout said something to him. How did Hout think Blount would react? What did Hout want to have happpen? It's not a cheapshot. And assault? Holy shit. Technically and in a court of law, you're right, but then again in a court of law someone gets paid for spilling coffe on themselves just because it was too hot. Have you never been jacked for something you said? I have and I was pissed but if I'm honest about it, I deserved it. If I didn't deserve it, I would've jacked the guy back.

yes, tapped him on the shoulder, I saw it, that is what happened.....he didn't come up and shove him and get in his face. he made a smart ass comment in response to Blount's own comments....you are acting like Blount id not the one who started it, he was running his mouth all week, should they have just popped in the mough during the pregame handshake???

By the law of this land if this happened anywhere else it would be considered assault....why we determine that after a football game is different I will never know. If someone start talking shit to me in public about a sporting event and I don't like what they say and I decide to pop them in the mouth, yes, it's assault! And yes, I would be charged.......why the difference here?

And I had been known to get in a few fights when I was younger, but to be honest bull, no, I would not pop someone in the mouth for something they say at this point in my life, I have too much to lose and it's simply not worth it. it's about making adult decisions and then being accountable for the decisions you make. Blount made a very bad decision, he even recognizes this now. He now needs to be held accountable for that decision.

Agreed. I'm just saying to hold Hout blameless is a mistake. Wasn't winning and holding Blount to -5 yards enough. Why say anything after the game is over? I agree 100% Blount should be held accountable, but so should Hout. I'm not saying equal punishment, obviously Blount took it to next level. However, a half year suspension for Blount and a 1 game suspension for Hout seems fair to me. This is snowballing because he knocked the dude out. If he misses he may not even get suspended. If he hits him in the helmet, he probably gets a 1 or 2 game suspension. BTW, if you jack someone on the street, they're probably not wearing a helmet.

Hout was not wearing a helmet though....his helmet was off, only Blout was wearing a helmet when the altercation took place.

And I'm not saying what Hout did was right, I do agree with you that he should have just let the play do the talking. But, a suspension doesn't seem right for him either IMO. Being a bit of a classless winner does not warrant suspension. Being jacked in the face and knocked the fock out seems like enough punishment to me.....not to mention having it replayed a million times for the world to see ;)

Fair enough. We just disagree. I'm sure Hout was talking to Blount the whole game. I just think classless winning is so much worse than classless losing.

The first thing that should happen is his Coach ought to suspend him indefinitely pending the outcome of Conference action. Once the conference action or NCAA action comes down, then the Coach should decide the length of his suspension, or determine if the school really wants to keep this kid at all. He said he was sorry, but I feel that was waaaaay to late and much too little in this case. As mentioned by Miller, punching the opponent is one thing, having to be tackled by your Coach and escorted out by security and Coaching staff, to avoid having you start a fight with the crowd, is a whole different matter, and the real jist of this thing. That is simply unstable actions. There is no defense for what happened here. I bet the Coach from Boise will get to the bottom of what the DE from his squad (94) said, and handle that side of the problem, right away. The police should also look at the tape and remove season ticket, if held from some of the fans who helped elevate the problem. There are at least 2 guys that probably shouldn't be attending games that are pretty easy to pick out.

This i can and do agree with. After just seeing the incident clean and clearly for the first time, i am swaying more towards a season suspension. All i got to see earlire was bits and pieces and now that they have released more info and video, it inables me to make a better assessment of the situation. Legarrette had to reach around another player to hit the DE. The DE was already getting pulled away by the coach. LG hit him and backed off quickly. So just from that, there is video not being released yet from before the coach started to pull away his DE, and thats what i want to see. From video i have seen so far, i do think he (LG) needs to be suspended all year. NCAA needs to make an example out of this guy and show this will not be tolerated. The NFL doesn't need another "Pacman" Jones.

To be open, I hate Oregon. Because I hate Oregon, I only hope they suspend him a couple of games. It will undermine the new coach, be a giant distraction, be a season long black eye for the Ducks, & give the clever student-fans in the Pac-10 plenty of ammunition to use on game day.

LOL, sadistic as it is, I completely agree with Miller here.....Hout has his blame in this whole debate, but I don't think suspending him is going to have near the impact as him and all his buddies watching Sportscenter together for the next few days and seeing him get folded up time after time.......not to mention the fact that this is the internet age and it's now probably got millions of hits on YouTube.......Hout's famous for the wrong reasons in this too, I think that's punishment enough.....
