NFL Impact
The combine is Jared Cook's time to shine. Considered already one of the top 3 TEs coming into the draft, Cook could increase his stock considerably if he continues to work out as well as he has. The only true downside of Cook were his numbers last year. Because they were so low, he many times didn't get as many heads turned his direction. In the combine this year, Cook ran a 4.50 40 (best overall for TEs). That's better than Pat White, Javarris Williams, Beanie Wells, and Aaron Curry. He managed 23 reps on bench, one more than top TE prospect Brandon Pettigrew. Cook also has the highest TE vertical at 41". His combine stats don't lie, he's a true athlete. The reason Cook will likely go behind Pettigrew though, is his blocking. Although an exceptional blocker, Jared needs to work on his foot work and his intensity. He can run, jump, catch, and get the secondary as well as any other TE. He may take a few years to adjust in the NFL, but look for him to become a dominate force in the air, almost instantly.
