Okay folks, you know the drill. Lets see who we as a consensus vote of the Sportsoutlaw experts think teams should take. The rules are simple, please choose one of the players listed and vote. Or, if you prefer, choose other, and then post who you would have taken. After 24hrs, the votes will be tallied and the winner will be awarded to that team. Heyward-Bey as well for me. I see what you're saying Dearborn, but with the loss of Coles, I think that's their biggest hole. Also, I'm still not completely sold that Freeman is a first rounder.

3-4 team with an obvious defensive coach? I went "other" with Tyson Jackson because I think with his size he's the best 3-4 DE in the draft and they need someone like him to free up their LB corps (Bart Scott, Ghloston, etc.) to make plays.

If they don't take Freeman here, he'll slide way out of the first round, I think. Or they could trade back in to grab him later on. Just not sure he's great value this early.

DHB doesn't make sense if your QB doesn't have the arm or accuracy to get it to him. No Jets QB has that.
Taking Freeman who is NOT a good QB prospect isn't a better choice either. You can make a Qb better, if he has better tools to work with. I am going Bey as well

Freeman's the second best pure QB in this draft, so I don't know how you come to that conclusion.

Simple, no he is not. Nor does anyone I have seen or read think that.

I look at who is universally considered the second best QB and laugh when people can say Freeman isn't better. Let's look at Sanchez's many problems.

1) No accuracy. I watched the combine and paid special attention to Sanchez and not once did he put the ball between the numbers. What's worse, what placement he did manage was always ideal for a pick six. Always.

2) Average, at best, arm strength. I was not impressed with his deep balls (putting it mildly), in fact Chad Pennington probably throws a better bomb.

3) No touch. It's one thing when you're Dan Marino and can throw the ball with so much velocity that no DB in their right mind is going to attempt the catch, that's not a problem so long as the WR can catch it. What is a problem, and what Sanchez suffers from, is not throwing the ball hard enough with certain routes (outs especially.)

4) No resiliency. This observation comes from the game against Oregon State, but he just fell apart in that game and really cost his team. That game wasn't even as hard as what he can expect from NFL practices, for Christ's sake, and he had a complete meltdown. He reminds me more of Leinart (is probably worse, truth be told) than Palmer (who is a tough bastard); he's a soft, prima donna player from a soft, prima donna program.

Freeman has never had any of those problems, not from his first college snap, and for that matter I honestly believe Pat White is a better QB. If Sanchez were from a small school he'd be preparing for life beyond football because he'd never be considered draftable material, but because he's from a school with so much history and glory, he's getting way more consideration than he deserves.

Okay, lets be clear what we are arguing here.

First and foremost, I am not high on any of the Qbs in this draft. Then again, I wasn't real high on Ryan last year...and he did pretty well. So I suppose I am no real expert.

Secondly, I don't rate Sanchez as a good NFL Qb. But I don't rate Freeman as one either. For all the knocks you have on Sanchez...I have alot of the same on Freeman. His accuracy isn't all that great, he has a strong arm..but little touch. I just don't see it. Saying he is better than Sanchez doesn't make his value a first rounder. Since I don't think Sanchez is a first rounder either.

But to your point....yes someone will probably draft Sanchez in the first round....Freeman might as well...since the Jets really have no friggen choice at this point...but they are wasted picks in my opinion.
