found another tweet asking if he is really dead. Not linking to it because if it is a false rumor, I don't want to spread it.

Charlotte Observer confirmed he was injured in a car wreck, but that is as much information as they are giving right now, from what I can find.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has been seriously injured in a car accident in North Carolina Wednesday afternoon.

The Bengals have confirmed that Henry was involved in a serious accident in Charlotte around 2:30 p.m.

Preliminary reports indicate Henry may have suffered severe head injuries.

Sources tell 9News Henry was in North Carolina with his fiance.

The Bengals and police have not released any other information at this time.

Sounds like a lot of contradicting information out there. ESPN just reported he is in "serious" condition which would contradict NFL Net's claim of "critical"

Here is what is on the Bengals official site, not much help in terms of details:
The Bengals confirmed Wednesday that wide receiver Chris Henry has been in a car accident in which he suffered “very serious,” injuries in Charlotte, N.C.
Henry, who has been on injured reserve since Nov. 9 with a dislocated forearm, is in the city of his girlfriend’s parents.

This sucks for Henry. Kid has really turned things around from all the reports I have heard. I really hope this is not as serious as it sounds it may be.

According to TMZ, the accident is the result of falling out of the back of a pickup truck. Supposedly a domestic dispute. Fiance left in the truck, Henry chased it down and jumped in the back, dispute continued until he fell out of the truck.

Regardless, I hope the guy is going to make it.

Gets weirder:

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry was injured after he "came out" of the back of a pickup during a domestic dispute in north Charlotte, according to police.
Officers were called to Oakdale Road near I-485 just before noon in reference to a person down. When officers arrived, they found Henry in the road, with life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics transported Henry to Carolinas Medical Center, where he is being treated, according to police.
Police say Henry was involved in a "domestic situation" with his fiancee at 840 Peachtree Road. His fiancee, who police haven't named, got into a pickup truck and drove away from the home. As she was driving, police say, Henry jumped into the bed of the truck.
The domestic dispute continued between the woman and Henry. At some point, Henry "came out" of the back of the vehicle. Police refused to elaborate on whether Henry fell or might have been forced out of the truck. No charges have been filed in the case.

His agent told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he was in Charlotte to make wedding plans with his fiancee :wtf:

Bengals.com is now calling the injuries life-threatening.....and confirming he is in "critical condition"

That is supposedly a reporter from the Dallas Morning News. I am monitoring google news (it automatically updates in real time), and that is where that report came up, along with other tweets that it may be a fake account. Who the hell knows at this point. I would hate to think someone is making a fake report like that just to get attention.

A fake Twitter account led to multiple outlets from newspapers to major sports and news blogs to repeat the information that Henry passed away.

The fake account purported to be by a NFL reporter, but it clearly is a fake.

My gut tells me he is dead. Seems like the story got leaked (even cbssports.com had it up briefly), but people may be doing damage control right now to let the family be notified. Again, just my gut feeling.
