Cam Newton must lobby for a 2nd round WR

Steve Smith is a legit #1 WR, but his time is winding down. Brandon LaFell is a decent #2 but he's more of a big red zone/3rd down specialist who slots better as a #3.

Almost universally, Carolina is mocked to take defense in the 1st round, and rightly so. But if I were Cam, I'd be pounding the drum to get someone to fill one of the WR roles with that 2nd round pick.

Guys available in the mid-2nd who make great sense are DeAndre Hopkins from right down the road at Clemson, Terrance Williams who is used to working with a mobile QB at Baylor named RGIII, and Quentin Patton from La.Tech who absolutely torched Texas A&M last season. Ryan Swope (TX A&M) is a speedy riser who may sneak into the 2nd round and would be a great target for Cam moving forward, as he's almost a Steve Smith clone with a tad more size.

Cam is not the secret player. Another WR would really benefit Cam Wes, you're right about that.

There are a lot of solid options in FA for a Wr. Wallace, Jennings, Welker and then the next tier down.

they just cut Gamble and had some major contract renegotiations, I thought that might have cleared some space.

Of course then Gamble retired.
