ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the sweepstakes to sign free-agent RB DeAngelo Williams has come down to between the Carolina Panthers vs. the Denver Broncos at this moment.

DWill is not going to Denver...they just can't make it work. They're better off sticking with Moreno and signing someone like Marion Barber to lighten the load from time to time.
 
Carolina has Stewart and Goodson.

Denver has NoShow Moreno and Correll Buckhalter.

Carolina may have the bigger wallet but Denver has the bigger need.

Be fun to see how it plays out.
 
Buck was released. Denver can't hang money wise still. They need to move Orton vis a trade or cut him to have a shot. I don't see them being able to out bid Carolina at this point. maybe McGahee??
 
And CAR just used a lot of the $ on DT, Charles Johnson (76mil over 6yrs w/ 30mil sb, :wow:). They still have plenty of cap space for DWill but if DEN gets Orton off it's books I'd think it would be a lot closer.
 
I hear Cincy is now in the contact phase with DeWill as well. So this may not be done yet.
 
Heard his contract is to be finalized today...teams in the running are....Carolina, Denver and the Giants. That last one is news to me.
 
Not sure. I had not heard of the Giants being in the running at all until just earlier on twitter.
 
Panthers should let him go and focus that money on a WR FA... They have a great RB duo in Stewy and Goodson.
