Mountain West petitions BCS for inclusion

Mountain West Conference has petitioned the BCS for inclusion as an AQ conference for the 2012/2013 seasons.

I highly doubt the BCS grants this given the losses of all the top schools from the conference, but then again denial just adds more fuel to the fire about the BCS being an unjust system.

By standards to keep it fair they would have to but who's left in the division to be competitive enough to make a bcs game worth watching?

Another year, another petition. No way they do it this year unless Conf USA and MWC merge.

Exactly. They nothing to market or to offer but want it handed to them. The only way it might have happened is if the Big East would have failed. Even if they do merge with conf usa, it still doesn't mean much except more teams to play. On the other hand, how can the BCS run around preaching how good and fair the system is if they deny the request?

Exactly. Its a catch 22 either way.

So.............just for grins.......... #1 SEC Champion LSU (13-0, 9-0) vs UNR Sun Belt Champion Arkansas State (10-2, 8-0)..... what would the line on that gem be? LSU -27?

And sadly thats what well be looking at here soon when this does happen. And they'll wonder why they can't sell out.

In the little scenario above, LSU wouldn't even have to show up , stay home and watch it on tv and they'd still win by 30.

Exactly. Now that said, does that mean the Champion of the Mountain West wouldnt "deserve" a shot at LSU in a playoff scenario?

In a playoff scenario i have to say yes they would. On that idea, why not take all the teams who win there conference championships and put them in a playoff scenario. Winner takes it all.
