Bears hired Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery as general manager.
With the Chiefs since 2009, Emery replaces Jerry Angelo, who was fired earlier this month after a decade on the job. Emery was an area scout for the Bears from 1998-2004, working with several people still in the team's front office. A regional scout for the Falcons when they drafted Matt Ryan in 2008, Emery also helped oversee a very successful 2010 draft class in Kansas City. His first order of business will be improving the Bears' shaky recent draft record.
