BCS Better than Playoff

Hey to the chief: BCS better than playoff - USATODAY.com
Perhaps you noticed that Barack Obama, the new Chief Tailgater, addressed that last item Sunday during a 60 Minutes interview. The message of the evening seemed clear enough: What the nation needs most at the moment is a stronger economy, more jobs and an eight-team playoff. He pledges full White House support. Since this is football, the issue will probably be assigned to the Department of Defense.

Sigh. Here we go again; the complainers in and around college football not realizing when a sport has it so good.

You use the BCS to seed the 8 playoff teams. Here is what you would have gotten:

8 - Penn State @ 1 - Oklahoma
7 - Texas Tech @ 2 - Florida
6 - Utah @ 3 - Texas
5 - USC @ 4 - Alabama

The teams left out of the playoff?
9 - Boise State
10 - Ohio State
11 - TCU
12 - Cincinnati

I have no problem with this. You use this convoluted BCS formulary, which determines a definate split between the top 8 teams and the rest. You move the Cotton and Gator to BCS level status. You now have 7 Bowls for your 7 playoff games. You still maintain the rest of the bowl games for the other schools. Everyone gets their money the same as they do now. If you win a conference championship and win your three games to become national champion, you have played 16 games. You move up some of the bowl practices and play times. Easily workable. Doesnt extend the season. Can be made to not interfere with testing times. Determines a true national champion.
