All sorts of speculation on David Johnson's status right now. Everything from missing half a season to a new report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport saying it's possible he plays in week 2. We should have a little more clarity after today's MRI results. In the meantime Johnson's owners should consider adding Kerwynn Williams his presumed direct backup or even Ellington.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Texans are expected to start Deshaun Watson on Thursday night against the Bengals.

That is if the rookie, who was spotted limping with an ankle injury after the game, is healthy. Watson took over from Tom Savage at halftime of the Texans' Week 1 embarrassment. Despite leading a quick touchdown drive, Watson struggled almost as much as Savage. While he may be a better option, Watson does not look like a good option at this point in his development.

Jacoby Brissett spelled Tolzien in the third quarter and we’d imagine he’ll be the favorite to start next week against the Cardinals.

Texans' Jaelen Strong: Returning from suspension
by RotoWire Staff
(1 hr ago) Strong (suspension) will rejoin the Texans for Thursday's game against the Bengals, Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle reports.
Strong missed an ugly Week 1 affair in which the Texans switched quarterbacks at halftime and didn't direct a single target to any wide receiver besides DeAndre Hopkins. As if that weren't bad enough, each of the team's three tight ends left the game with a concussion, as did reserve wideout Bruce Ellington. Stong could be busy in Week 2 out of necessity, though the same could've been said for Braxton Miller in Week 1, and yet he finished without a target on 63 snaps.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is unlikely to play Week 2.

The coach actually said the five players dealing with concussions were unlikely to play, but Fiedorowicz is on that list. With Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson also in the protocol, the Texans have a big hole at tight end. Brian Cushing and Bruce Ellington are the other two on the list.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports David Johnson is meeting with wrist specialists, and surgery is a possibility.

Schefter reports a decision is expected in 24-48 hours, but that it sounds like Johnson could "miss some time." The reports have been somewhat unusually all over the map with Johnson. It's because different doctors are apparently offering up different opinions. The best-case scenario of Johnson playing Week 2 still seems to be on the table, but isn't looking particularly likely. Kerwynn Williams and Andre Ellington will form a committee if Johnson can't go. We also wouldn't rule out Chris Johnson being re-signed.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports David Johnson (wrist) is expected to miss an "extended period of time," and is a candidate for injured reserve.

Rapsheet's report came minutes after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Johnson and the Cardinals were still considering all the options. Stashing Johnson on injured reserve would cost him at least eight weeks. At the very least, it's looking safe to say Johnson is going to miss this week's game against the Colts. Kerwynn Williams is the priority add for fantasy owners, though Andre Ellington will probably become PPR viable. Ellington has proven time and again he can't stay healthy with an early-down role.

Speaking Monday, Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said David Johnson is seeking a second opinion on his wrist injury, but that currently his prognosis is the same as T.J. Logan's, who is on injured reserve with a wrist issue.

David Johnson to IR, could be option for late return, but if the team tanks, don't be surprised if he stays out all season
