Eagles Sign Safety Sean Jones

Safety Sean Jones signed a one-year, $3 million free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, helping fill the void created by Brian Dawkins' departure.A second-round pick by Cleveland in 2004, Jones played five seasons with the Browns. He was mostly used as a strong safety, but his playmaking skills make him a potential replacement for Dawkins at free safety. Jones may have to beat out second-year pro Quintin Demps for the spot.

If he can stay healthy he'll compete with Demps for the starting FS position this year. Eagles are looking to add more high-risk high-reward prospects to their secondary this year. Jack Ikegwuonu (sp?) was drafted with a torn ACL last year.

YES! I heard he was visiting, and was hoping he would be signed. He has been a huge safety, great ball hawk and solid tackler. I love this move! Now S is not as dire a need in the draft for Philly, and they can instead focus on OL!
