Camp news - post week 1 of pre-season

okay time to start a fresh thread

First - Rookie Rb Derrius Guice is having and MRI on his left knee(same one he had issues with in college) after he left the game early. He seemed okay on sidelines post the injury but we have to see....
- S.F. got hit with some injury issues as well - Key injuries were to Rb Matt Brieda and Te George Kittle both have shoulder injuries and both seem pretty serious. Both are expected to miss some time pre-season
- Andrew Luck looked pretty darn good in his first action and was able to take a hit and show no issues
- Tannehill for Miami also showed well for one series - but he wasn't touched in game - Thanks to OL
- Cle Baker Mayfield is really showing well - had a pretty good game, and is being given credit for getting with rookie Wr Antonio Callaway to get him turned around in 2nd half - does Cle really have a Qb of the future?!?!?!
- Joe Flacco looked like Flacco of old - and Lamar Jackson looked like a rookie Qb - don't think Jackson will get much shot this year to take over....
- In what might be a shocker - Buffalo liked what all three Qbs did in its preseason game! They all showed pretty well, but Allen only faced 3rd string defense...
- In the I can't believe its a girdle story - Pittsburgh is being investigated by the NFL for deflated footballs in its preseason games - yeah, can't make this stuff up....
- Tampa bay has a Qb issue? - As you all know Winston is suspended for first 3 games - there are also rumbles they won't extend him and may trade him away .... and the HC was absolutely raving about 3rd string Qb Ryan Griffin - who only faced 3rd string defense I believe.....
- More good news - Shaq Griffin looked great in game....really pulling for this kid!
- We have our first casualty of the new helmet rule - S Shamarko Thomas Pit was ejected during the game for his hit on Seattle Wr David Moore
- Brady did not play and seems to have a stiff back...he hasn't played in a week one preseason game in forever...
- also evidently the Anthem thing isn't going away - Miami had at least one player kneeling during the anthem(stills) and in a few games a few players went back to the locker room. Others had fists raised during the anthem.
- Dez Bryant IS heading to Cleveland...for a visit
- Andy Dalton had a pretty good night - 3 Tds(one was a pick six ) and the offense seems to be clicking , Joe Mixon had a solid game as well.
- on hold outs - NOTHING new for both Lb R. Smith chi and DE K. Mack for Oakland/Las Vegas
- Min OG Nick Easton is most likely out for rest of season after a neck surgery - Minny needs OL help
- OH last but not least - N.E. set to give Brady a big pay raise......hmmmmmm

Michael Gallop looked good against the first team D. Nice TD catch. Starting to think he is the best rookie WR to own in redraft based on situation. Looks very smooth.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Derrius Guice has been diagnosed with a sprained MCL.

RapSheet reports Guice will have an MRI to confirm the diagnosis.

Okay sorry folks been out on some short notice vacation...

News updates:
- in the ongoing saga for McCoy rb buf - he has an agreement in place with his formal girlfriend for her to evacuate the home he owns in GA. Per multiple reports she had already left the home, but needs to get back in for some personal items that will happen with lawyers and the law present. However, there is still the charges filed by the former girlfriend that need to be addressed, so this isn't totally over.
- Rashaad Penny Rb Sea has a broken finger and is getting surgery - he will be out at least til week 1. However, by all reports he was not going to start regardless and it was Carson's job. He should be involved though.
- Donald Penn OT Oak has agreed to a pay cut and will move to RT for the Raiders this year - he has been pushing back on the move, but raiders like the rookie OT they took.
- All draft picks are now signed and in as Roquan Smith Lb Chi has finally agreed to a deal - bout time
- So San Fran as stated above has some rb issues - Brieda has a seperated shoulder but no ligament damage, and McKinnon has some knee issues but again no ligament damage - both are out for a while so they have signed Alfred Morris to fill in.
- Miami Wr DeVante Parker is week to week with a broken finger - not sure this kid is ever going to be what they thought.
- Eagles have signed former Jets Qb Christian Hackenberg - WTF? Oh his first two passes have been picked off in practice
- Washington has cut Cb Orlando Scandrick
- Denver has some concerns at the #2 Qb spot - right now Chad Kelly has surpassed former first round pick Paxton Lynch - but they want to make sure they have a guy in place that they can trust - What I get from this - Paxton Lynch is a bust and may be a goner - and Kelly is promising, but still basically a rookie after missing most if not all of last year.
- Also Barkley rookie Rb of NYG is working through a hamstring sprain - should be fine

News update -
- Philadelphia fans just saw their worst nightmare - Foles getting hurt in preseason and Wentz now questionable for week 1. I actually am high on Nate Sudfeld, but I don't think Philly wins much with him as starting Qb - Foles has a "strained" shoulder, more news to come I am sure
- Washington lost Guice last week, now has Perine go down this week - fortunately it is just a twisted ankle per team
- Jets seem to be very, very happy with all three Qbs - Bridgewater has been solid, the rookie was okay to solid with starters this week and McCown is the seasoned vet... - My money says they start McCown first, trade Bridgewater and then use the Rookie after week 3 or 4 or so. Just my opinion.
- Steelers played both young Qbs and both threw pick sixes. I am still a HUGE fan of Mason Rudolph and feel he is the future in Pitts, especially as Big Ben has already been in concussion protocol once this year.
- Rumors are flying the Packers and A. Rodgers are close to a huge extension, creeping closer per multiple insiders - he is NOT taking less to improve the team as Brady did.
- Patriots have started talks with Wr Chris Hogan on an extension
- Titans have lost TE Delanie Walker in practice with a potential toe injury - severity is still unknown, and how much he will miss is still unknown
- Saints DE Alex Okafor is out with a bone bruise on his knee and a sprained ankle - Ouch!

Carson Wentz (knee) has been cleared for 11-on-11 team drills.

Coach Doug Pederson said Wentz would need at least a week of team drills to be ready for the start of the season.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy reports Josh Gordon hasn't been cleared to practice.

Gordon is still in the league's substance abuse program and needs to pass certain conditions before practicing. It's possible not meeting the conditions are why Gordon delayed reporting to training camp. The league "doesn't have a timetable" on Gordon's next step. Gordon can attend meetings and do conditioning, but he's not out of the woods yet.

- Gb is losing Rbs like candy, Jamaal Williams will miss time now with sprained ankle, and Aaron Jones and Devante Mays are out with hamstring issues..
- Kenny Britt Wr NE realizes he is missing out on key time and team seems to be moving forward without him. He could still make team though as Edelmen is out for 4 weeks for suspension
- Cb E.J. Gaines Cle is out for 2-3 weeks with a knee sprain. - thought it was worse at first...
- Browns keep down playing NFL's role in Gordon's return - but NFL is steadfast on he has not finished his NFL requirements to be fully activated - this could be an issue folks
- Jets are making rumbles for Josh Darnold - he is now working exclusively with #1's in practice - he has done very well, but so has bridgewater also.
- TE Adam Shaheen Chi has a low ankle sprain, so should be ready for start of season
- S Jaylen Watkins LAC - is out with a torn ACL - this team just gets waylaid with injuries....
- Buf Qb A.J. McCarron has a broken collerbone...or does he? - team is getting a second opinion, he supposed has a slight fracture...but the team seems to question it
- Bengals will cut S George Iloka this week - it is a cap move he cost $5.3 million and Bengals get $4.4 back with the cut - and he had already been replaced by 2nd round pick Jessie Bates in the starting defense
- Eagles got great news this week - Foles' shoulder injury was minor, and Wentz got clearance to start 11 on 11 drills again - so Eagles should have a solid starter at start of season - WHEW!
- One story that is out is that Seattle offered a 2nd round pick to Indy for Jacoby Brissett - but got turned down - some are assuming this is driven by OC Shottenheimer who loves Brissett and was his Qb coach last year with Indy
- Washington is fishing in the Rb market - bringing in Orleans Darkwa and Jamaal Charles for tryouts - also may bring in Adrian Peterson
- Denver has announced Chad Kelly has overtaken Paxton Lynch for the back up Qb role - I think we can officially list Lynch as a bust now....
- Zach Martin OG dallas seems to have not been seriously injured this week - he was thought to have blown his knee out but evidently it has not

- Confirmed by Browns - E.J. Gaines is a knee sprain and is week to week
- Carolina - Matt Kalil is also having a knee issue and has missed consecutive practices - head coach states it is veteren rest...
- Denver - evidently GM John Elway went to the Jones school of not shutting up - the information he shared on why they have not signed or looked at Kaepernick at Qb was to be gagged, as the trial is still going under a gag order. John, just shut up and let this die...
- DE/LB Brandon Graham of Phi - is active in camp and off the PUP list - working to get fully back from ankle injury suffered during playoffs last year
- Jets President Mke McCaggnin was interviewed and he had glowing reports on rookie Qb Sam Donald - when asked who would start this year he was coy, but when asked if they would trade away Bridgewater he stated - Nothing keeping us from keeping 3 Qbs this year, or two if the issue arrises.
- due to shoulder injury to McCarron - Josh Allen is now clocking time with the starters in practice

- Vikings have cut PK Kyle Forbath - rookie is only kicker currently on roster
- Per reports - two teams have already reached out to Jets on Bridgewater,no firm offers yet, but the talks will start soon I bet
- Seattle has cut P John Ryan - going with drafted kid??
