The Steelers are loaded at RB so they found themselves in a position where they had to drop RB Gary Russell. The Bengals wasted no time and grabbed him off of Waivers. Who is Gary Russell? That's what everybody said when he scored The Steelers only rushing TD in the Super Bowl. While he only had 77 yards last year he did score 3 times. He also averaged 23 yards per return as a kick returner which is likely the void the Bengals were looking to fill.

Cincinnati picked running back Gary Russell off waivers Friday after he played in 15 games last season, including the postseason, and had five rushing touchdowns. The 5-11, 215-pound Russell was cut Thursday when the Steelers re-signed backup quarterback Charlie Batch.

Russell averaged 22.3 yards as Pittsburgh's kick returner, a spot the Bengals are seeking to fill with wide receiver Glenn Holt's departure in free agency.

thought he was a full back?

He was the primary kick return guy and after Mendenhall's injury he assumed goal-line duties. Kind of a bowling ball dude with decent speed.

I believe in college he took over at RB at Minnesota after Maroney and MBIII left.

Definitely a good RBBC type guy to spell Ced for a few carries a game if they choose to use him that way.
