Obama made a terrible mistake when he said he would like some redistribution of wealth. I think he was thinking of more taxes on the more prosperous among us in order to provide higher education at lower cost to more persons, minimum health care for all Amereicans, job training geared to today's requirements, that kind of thing. What he has proposed that would fall in the category of wealth distribution as I see it is higher taxes on incomes over $200,000 to $250,000 to pay for the things I mentioned and similar things. And the rate he proposes are rates before the Bush tax cuts which does not seem radical to me. The fact that the Bush tax cuts were for a set number of years as opposed to permanent suggests to me that the cuts were in the form of an experiment.

I think Obama would like to help all people, perhaps especially the poor and uneducated, and he has tried but I do not know anything he has done to assure their support. IMO most would be happy with a job with reasonable income but these times has made that hard to help provide.
If you eliminate wealth redistribution from the Democratic platform how much of a platform is there left?

If he had any sort of plan at higher education at lower costs - that failed. (never heard of a plan - just know that by coincidence I have been in school throughout his presidency and my bill has gone up each year)

I do imagine most would be happy with a job with a reasonable income. Problem is that when they get an entry level job many discover three things they do not like. - one that they actually are expected to work, two that they are expected to be there when scheduled, and three that they have to do what they are told to do. I have two jobs. One at Walmart and one as a manager at a restaurant. See the same three problems at both places for over half the new people. Actually could throw in a fourth - that if they are expected to not steal - amazing how many people think that have having a job allows them to take what they want from the company.
