OKAY WE ARE UNDER WAY. IF YOU SEE ME/FORUM IS UP, MAKE THE PICK....LETS KEEP IT MOVING ALONG PEOPLE. YOU CAN LEAVE REASONING HERE FOR YOUR SELECTION, BUT KEEP DISCUSSION IN THE APPROPRIATE THREAD.

1.01 - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn

This is a pick they should trade out of, but with so little invested in the QB position, Jimmy Clausen's failure, and a rookie wage scale, in an iffy draft its the best pick for a Carolina team that needs something more dynamic under center.

1.02 - Nick Fairley, DL, Auburn

The Broncos have alot of needs, but with the return of Elvis Dumervil the defense will get a bit better. Still needed is solidification of the DL, and Fairley should be able to raise hell and be a disruptive force on the line.

1.03 - Buffalo Bills - Da'Quan Bowers DE Clemson

1.04 - Cincinnati Bengals - Patrick Peterson Cb LSU

Bills need dire help on Def. Line. May move back to a 4-3, may not, but Bowers is one of the top DEs and a need. Buffalo can wait til early 2nd for Qb to groom.

Bengals make a surprise pick here. Key need for them as I think Jonathan Joseph may be gone, but he was hurt too much anyway and Hall is a FA next year. This will give them depth and room and he is a top flight Cb with man on man skills.

OLB is the biggest need for the Cards. An Improved Pass Rush would do wonders in the weak NFC West

1.09 - Dallas - Prince Amukamara. Im not in love with anyone at this spot, but this is as solid a pick as any of them.

1.11 - Houston Texans - Aldon Smith, DE/OLB, Missouri

The Texans just need to get better, and for the most part I dont see anything on the board right now in the secondary Id want to spend 11 overall on.

1.12 - Minnesota Vikings - Tyron Smith, OT, USC

Again, no QB or CB guy here worth the pick. I see Julio Jones sitting there, and I was tempted to take him, especially with Headache Harvin being the only threat in the receiving corps under contract. That said, the Vikings need to protect whoever will be at QB, and this pick would allow for the move of Bryant McKinnie to the right side.

1.13 Detroit Lions take JJ. Watt, DE, Wisconsin

Went best available player. Suh and Watt together will kill team's offemsive lines.

1.16 - Jacksonville Jaguars - Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue

With Kampmann coming off yet another ACL tear and the rest being unproductive or unproven players, Kerrigan is a major help for the Jags along the DL

1.17 - New England Patriots - Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal.

NE has developing concerns (retirement/contract) at OL and there are a few available that I considered but with 6 picks in the 1st three rounds (3 in the top 33) they have flexibility to take the top player available on their big board. Doesn't hurt that he fills a need too.

1.18 - San Diego Chargers - Sarge/FORUM - Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa
1.19 - New York Giants - Sarge/FORUM - Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State

The Chargers need a versatile DE, and Clayborn, despite his 4.8 40 yard dash time, is a solid prospect who can be an end in either the 3-4 or 4-3 scheme.

NY needs a good OT prospect, and Sherrod is a wonderful blend of size and athleticism. Coming out of the SEC, he was a better choice in my mind than two other prospects still on the board from the Big Ten and ACC.

1.20 - Tampa Bay Bucs - Runnik - Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
1.21 - Kansas City Chiefs - Sgt John - Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor

Ayers fits a need for the Bucs as an outside LB with good upside.
KC needs another WR, but I have to shore up that lane, and Phil Taylor will be a man child.

1.23 - Philadelphia Eagles select - Jimmy Smith Cb Colorado

yeah, they need O-line help. But they desperately need a Cb opposite Samual. Yes, I do believe they will be in the Asoumaoughanaguabaphe(sp?) run, but with no FA until CBA, they will want to lock this guy up.
