The New York Giants boasted that Rueben Randle was NFL-ready after taking the LSU receiver in the second round of draft, and the kid didn't disappoint as the Super Bowl champions opened a rookie minicamp on Friday. Randle went up high to catch a pass along the sideline and later burned third-round draft choice Jayron Hosley on a ''go'' pattern in the morning session of Friday's camp. Granted it's just a minicamp littered with free agents and players on tryouts, but Randle showed signs that he might be able to replace Super Bowl hero Mario Manningham, who left to sign with the San Francisco 49ers as a free agent.)

49ers first-round pick A.J. Jenkins reported to rookie minicamp out of shape. Beat writers Matt Barrows and Matt Maiocco both noticed it on the field, and coach Jim Harbaugh confirmed he was unimpressed with Jenkins' conditioning midway through practice.

We found out about it yesterday, but had to promise not to tell.

Ray Rice is heading over to my former high school this morning as part of some educational program he is involved with. They told my daughter that she was one of a dozen kids selected to meet him in person and be part of a video they are filming about this effort.

I went out last night and bought her a Rice jersey, $95 flipping dollars!!! but I digress, and then when she gets there this morning, they make everyone change into gym clothes so they can run and do other stuff with him :frown:

I hope he at least signs the jersey. I can put it in a glass case next to my Gary Williams signed shirt.

It would be pathetic if it weren't so terribly sad. A broke Terrell Owens went on Dr. Phil's show to face the mothers of three of his children and discuss why he is not more involved in their lives and has stopped paying child support. The episode aired Tuesday.
Owens doesn't see any of his four kids -- two sons and two daughters by four women -- with any regularity because, he said, his schedule doesn't allow it. He doesn't send Christmas presents. He doesn't call on their birthdays. Until recently, he didn't do anything but pop in occasionally on short notice and send money at the beginning of the month.
The monthly tab, at its peak, according to Owens: $50,000.
